Lashpair - everythink OK with you and your house in Forester?

The news of the devastating fires has really captured my attention and I'm hoping everyone in our extended Aussie circle are OK.

cirquelover 02-08-2009 04:18 PM

Hopefully they check in this afternoon and tell us they are ok.

Are bears fireproof, I sure hope so;)

Well, some of the ones I know could be described as "flaming"... ;)

lashbear 02-08-2009 07:12 PM

Hi all,

Just saw this now - everything is fine in Forster, and here in sydney it's starting to cool off now (thank goodness)

Thank you all for your thoughts and.... We can't wait to see snow.

Not Afraid 02-08-2009 07:35 PM

My Pug Board has quite a few Aussies on it and the stories coming from them are terrible. I wish everyone well.

wolfy999 02-08-2009 08:47 PM

How far are the two of you from the fires?

lashbear 02-08-2009 11:56 PM

Luckily, at Forster there's a fair distance in between, but we were ready to mobilise, just in case.

In Hornsby there's hundreds of Km's distance, so that's good. The main worry was getting caught in a fire on the highway between Mum and Home.

wendybeth 02-09-2009 12:12 AM

So sorry about the fires, Lash. We get some spectacular ones up here- and lord knows California does as well- so we know how it is. I can't imagine how horrific it must be for those who are in harms way. I hope they can contain the fires quickly and get help to those who need it right away. :(

wendybeth 02-09-2009 12:12 AM

Oh, and still loads of snow up here!

lashbear 02-09-2009 12:48 AM

Here's a map showing where the fires were in relation to Sydney & Forster. We didn't even smell the smoke on the way back !

...not so lucky were the 65+ Victorians who died in their blaze.. :(

LashStoat 02-09-2009 01:40 AM

Dear All,

LashStoat reporting in safe and sound too...unlike the poor folk from Victoria, who always cop it bad in bushfire season.

The worst bit is, for some perverted reason, it's often a Volunteer Fire-Fighter that lights the fires in the first place. One got caught recently, and will probably be jailed for manslaughter.

Oh and Wendbeth, keep saving that snow for us (although I'm sure you're well and truly over it by now). I only need two square feet of it to run around in (but more would be ice nice).

Love and hugs,

The Stoat XXX.

PS// Many thanks to NotAfraid for starting this thread out of concern for us.

Drince88 02-09-2009 12:00 PM

Glad to hear you guys are safe and sound.

I'm very disturbed to hear that some of the fires may be arson. That's just not something my brain comprehends.

RStar 02-09-2009 12:20 PM

Glad to hear everything is fine with you two. I was wondering when I saw it on the news..

Sorry to hear about the loss of homes in Victoria, it's a terrible thing.

I want to move to Australia just so I can live in a town called Woy Woy.

JWBear 02-09-2009 01:02 PM

Why Why?

You don't have an exclusive on silly town names. There are many more, but that is always a favorite.

Something tells me that if you went to any of these places, you would get lost.

JWBear 02-09-2009 07:46 PM

Does Muff have a pool?

Well; you can get wet. Especially if your entrance is done well.

Just be careful when you dive in.

LashStoat 02-10-2009 01:01 AM

Well, I've heard of bush fires, but this particular one is going out of control.

Cold showers are predicted, so put on the rubbers quickly.
