Lashpair Are Go !!

Now with just over 24 hours before leaving for the airport, we are packing last minute stuff and collecting our thoughts.

Any Cell Numbers not collected by us yet would be gratefully recieved, and you can PM me in the next 24 hours for our Cell #'s which we now have.

We have an entire suitcase full of booty which, once emptied, will come back with us laden with other booty such as Maplene, Butter Buds, Crystal Lite On-The-Go, More Butter Buds, that popcorn in the big poofy aluminium dome pan thingy, Canned Bacon, a Mouseadventure First Place Certificate, and various trinkets.

We are as excited as kids on Christmas morning, and we look forward to having a wonderful time with everyone.

Internet access is an unknown quantity just yet, but we will have our wifi iPhones, and the laptop with us, so we should be able to check PM's, and I may have to tweet from time to time (ie all the time) - We have over 1000 free SMS to use so that's why we are making sure we have all relevant Cell #'s.

See Ya Real Soon !!!!

Because we like them.

LashStoat 03-24-2009 03:42 PM

Bear Bear!!!

I think I can see land…is that Gemini’s head bobbing up and down on the horizon? – It must be Hawaii. !!!

We’ve been swimming for months, and at last we are nearly there. I was so worried that the Tim-Tams would get soggy and the Vegemite would get into my knickers. At least the combine harvester didn’t rust too badly, and the 1:1 scale replica of the Harbour Bridge seems to have survived. Which reminds me…did you pack the Allen Key?

It’s just as well we’ve been industrious along the way. Getting all those contact numbers was a great scam – we can make money by selling them to Reader’s Digest and Franklin Mint to offset the cost of the trip. Though I have to draw the line on the whole Slave-Trading idea, Bear…our friends might not be able to cope with the Americans.

Just think…soon we can have Apple Poi, Blueberry Poi and Shepherd’s Poi. A fridge magnet shaped like an Armadillo drinking from a beer bottle. Shelves of unit pricing so low that the shop pays the customer.

Hey – there might be ration stamps. I haven’t collected stamps since I was a kid. If I get enough of ‘em, maybe I could swap you for a valuable prize like a Dradle or a cup of Gas.

Of course we get to go to the California State Capital, which I have renamed for us dumb Ashtrayans to “San Franmento” so we can remember it isn’t “Los Angeles-Del-La-etc-etc-whatever-house arrest-thingy”. For years I thought I had the lyrics for the song “If you’re going to San-Franmento, be sure to wear a flower in your hair” totally correct.

Imagine how shattered I was to learn that it is no longer fashionable to wear flowers in my hair.

Bummer dude. But they’d be soggy anyway. Even the dried ones would have re-hydrated by now, and the green-green dye would be flowing down, all over my McArthur Parker.

And Spokane is not the home of speed and cocaine. It’s in Washington, which is also known as “The Laundry State”. I read it on Wikipedia when we passed LufaNopukaLeniOpo Island a few days back. You can have a suit or frock pressed there for five bucks. You can get your money cleaned there. They could even have dyed my eyes to match my parker, but green ain’t my colour. Another bummer, dude.

Then there’s Yosemite and Hearst where we get to stay in rustic cabins, eat clam chowder and sing “Kum Ba Yah” or similarly mind-numbing ditties. Fortunately, we’ll have a mind-numbing alternative just a bottle cap away – Dr Pepper. And if you’ll believe that, we have a Bridge we want to sell you. Allen Key extra…oh, and you’ll need a backyard the size of Sydney Harbour in which to place it.

Not to forget the place named after a cigarette – Long Beach. We find that kinda cute, because to us (like in the Crocodile Dundee movie) a big beach is one that you can’t see the other end of…unless you’ve necked yourself and the tide carries you there semi-conscious to the opposite headland. I did it once (not the necking part) and woke up with a pounding headache. I’d have thought the seaweed would have cushioned the impact.

But what about Disney???

Bear…Bear!!!

We are going to Disney on my actual birthday. And before. And after. There will be LoTers there…many lots of LoTers. Some that we’ve met before, and that we didn’t meet before before, so they’ll be new friends for us to play with. I so want to go on the Frying Nemo Ride, the Matterhorn with at least one other rider, the Loo Ride by myself, and IASW with everyone simultaneously (again).

There’s a new virtual shooting ride in DCA isn’t there? And my mate Trevor runs that drop-lift ride “The Tower of Trevor” …he said they named it after him. It’s only fitting, and you ‘Mericans are good at recognising greatness (like the dam you named after the vacuum cleaner, and the burger you named after a raincoat).

I’m so excited that I could do my Stoat dance right here in the ocean. I could even pee myself…oh wait…I just did.

Love and hugs to all,

The Stoat XXX.

lashbear 03-24-2009 03:54 PM

I see Stoat's in a manic mood this morning. At least it makes the Packing easier. :p

Actually, I'm in need of a guide to America with "Don't Panic" written on the cover in large, friendly letters.

Morrigoon 03-24-2009 07:22 PM

See you boys soon!

Gemini Cricket 03-24-2009 07:32 PM

I hope I don't forget to pick them up from the airport.

Not Afraid 03-24-2009 07:50 PM

I hope Stoat isn't TOO allergic to cats.

I think the Cabin in Yosemite, JW Bear's place and their hotel are the ONLY places that are pet-free.

Kevy Baby 03-24-2009 10:55 PM

Yeah, there aren't any animals in Yosemite

JWBear 03-25-2009 10:15 AM

MS,
I havent heard them say they didnt like any flavor.
But if memory serves when they were here last they liked the pink lemonade flavors.

I've sent other flavors over since, but I think its the fact that they just cant get them. So unfair.

~MS~ 03-25-2009 05:07 PM

Thanks so much Ponine, I'm going shopping before they get here for Easter weekend and want to have as many 'treats' on hand as I can think of, we have so much planned for the 48 hours they're here I don't want to spend any of it just shopping for drink mixes.

Morrigoon 03-25-2009 06:21 PM

So, I've noticed that some of us are having a hard time wrapping our brains around your actual schedule. Can you post which dates you'll be where?

So far best I've been able to come up with is that Yosemite is right after Easter and Hearst Castle after that, and somehow you'll be around till one day after DLRPBopazot arrives. Oh, and obviously you're in Hawaii now. When do you leave HI? When do you get to CA? (etc.)

Oh, and are you doing San Francisco at all? Because I have tentative plans to be in the Bay Area the week before Easter (which, sadly, eliminates me from being able to also make a Yosemite trek)

Gemini Cricket 03-25-2009 06:27 PM

Picked up the Lashpair and MommaStoat from the airport this morning. We went for a bite to eat at Grace's and then went to Foodland to get groceries.
It's great seeing the Lashes again. :)
We've got some upcoming plans to make. Around the island road trip and maybe a visit to a bear bar in Waikiki.

I love their one little block of "unplanned time" one Tuesday morning.

But what, what, WHAT is all the RESERVED time. WTF? I continue to be baffled.

~MS~ 03-25-2009 06:38 PM

I'm not sure what other plans they have but they fly to Spokane on Thursday before Easter then fly to Sacramento the Saturday before Easter, they're spending the 48 hours that covers the balance of Saturday thru Monday with me...we're going to cram a weeks vacation into 48 hours, picking them up at the airport, a trip to In & Out for a six by six...there will be photos, then a quick drive by of the state capitol building/park then drive back to my home to get ready to go back into the city for the evening performance of Wicked. Easter Sunday we will be in San Jose at some point to tour the Winchester Mystery House then back to my house for Easter dinner, Monday I'll drive them to the Jelly Belly factory for the tour and a wee bit of tourist shopping and Snowflake will pick them up and drive them on to Yosemite for dinner with the Yosemite swankers. The following weekend is the Cambria 'swank' then they head to Long Beach and Anaheim for the Disney portion of their holiday.

I talked to Rob on the phone today - either that or Brad, who I called, had a really KILLER Asytrayian accent. It's nice that they are on US soil - even if it is Hawaii.

Remember there's the cocktail party on some Friday after Yosemite at John and Bills. That should be on everyone's calendar.

One day later and I'm still laughing about the tweet. How many threads are there? (Not to mention that the person in question wanted to be on the Yosemite list.)

Oh, btw, when is Mouse Adventure Registration? I want to play in April.

I literally laughed out loud to that!

Yeah we missed the boat on the aussies heading over. I do remember the Tokyo trip getting canned and something about them coming to the US instead, but last I heard of that was a year ago. Unfortunately work now affords me no LoT time. If it can't fit into 140 characters, I don't know about it. Of course, I can't always keep up with twitter either. Hmm, maybe we need micro twitter?

Sooooo, were you NOT aware that the LashPair were going to be in Yosemite when you wanted your name on the waiting list?

LashStoat 03-31-2009 01:38 AM

Dear NA,

It's all very clear. Mr NM thought we were going to Micronesia, which is almost correct except we changed it to Calonesia which is almost exactly the same but entirely different in most respects except for the Flower Drum Song (but the earthquakes are very similar).

Both places like sugar a lot and cinnamon heaps but you have gas instead of petrol with ATM's a bit everywhere (but sometimes you have to pay first to have the gas).

And not to forget we arrived eight hours before we left and a Mai-Tai isn't a type of snake though it can have a bite although that doesn't stop us.

There. So enough of who knows what about when on account of the fact that we'll be in Calonesia soon and will meet with anyone that can stand us two during Bear Season (tm).

Love and hugs,

The Stoat (and for Bugga-Lugs) XXX :D

Hmm, don't really remember. I didn't really know anything about the Yosemite trip including when it was. I just thought it was the replacement for this years Kings Canyon camping trip. Never had a chance to read the thread.

I definitely recall overhearing something about the lashes coming to the US a looooong time ago, but had no idea when. Thus was very surprised to hear they were here.

innerSpaceman 04-05-2009 10:25 AM

An attempt at playing duck duck goose was done last night in the Honda Center parking lot. It was abandoned after 2 "ducks" and a "I'm not going to run it's to fvcking hot" declaration by all. No one ended up in the mushpot.
