LashPair Official Trip Report
Look here for the raw details. The smutty comments, the Just LashPairiness of it all.
Right here. Don't touch that dial. |
Day 01 - A-Slow-Ha Flight, Aloha Honolulu.
So!
Here we are in Waikiki - it's Wed Evening the 25th, and we are finally esconced. The flight dragged - none of us got any sleep, despite being forced to sit through Bad Learnin's AshTraya. What a waste of celluloid (in Stoat's opinion). The stuff I caught glimpses of included aborigines running as fast as a truck, and Kangaroos being CGI'd bouncing next to said truck as well. The only other thing I remember is Nicole showing off white creamy acres of prime cleavage in a roughly-30's-era-supposedly red silk chinese dress. Stunning, but she (and Huge Ackman) both looked far too modern in that scene. anyhoo, once we landed in Hawaii, we caught the shuttle bus to the arrivals terminal, retrieved our string-security-enabled bags, and waited for Brad to arrive. He was only about 15 mins late, and Lei'd greg & I as soon as he got out of the car. He hadn't realised that Mum would be with us, so no Lei for May... yet. We then managed to pile the 4 of us, plus 4 bags and 4 backpacks into his compact car. This was achieved with two bags in the boot, a Bag, May, and Greg in the Back Seat, and Brad, Me, and a Bag on my lap in the front seat. He drove us to the resort, which we found right away, and we checked in - the check-in guy was a flamboyantly sweet guy, and we're confirmed for the whole time here in the one room - no room-swapping. This means, of course, that we have immediately expanded all our crap to fill the whole room - including the yummy oubliette privacy screen, which is gorgeous. But then: NO CELL PHONES !!! I and the Flambouyant one went to track it on USPS, and it's in waikiki, just not at the resort until tomorrow. We then went to get Poi !! I've tasted poi now. it's WAY better with salt. ANYHOW, we got a LOT of alcohol at the local supermarket, along with cheeses, vodka, tequila bloody mary mix, margarita mix, resses peanut butter cups, and so dinner was cheese, bread, karaage chicken (left from lunch) and margaritas. YUM. then we went for a walk along the main strip, which is like Cavill Ave in the Gold Coast of QLD back home, but on Steroids. We love it, and we got Rob a ring, and we all got Lei'd this time, to the tune of $10 ea, but the Lei's are all Uber-fragrant Frangipani's and are just filling the room with their perfume. Returning, we then set up the internet, and got ready for bed, and here you find us. Soon pix will be coming on subsequent days from the SLR camera. Hugs & Love from ALL of us,in Happy Hawaii. SO, Brad, what are we doing tomorrow ?!? :D |
Breakfast this morning was Yummy - and I scored a bottle of Sugar-free maple syrup cos we can't get it at home (courtesy of the lovely lady who runs the breakfasts.)
Oh, and the Phones still haven't arrived. We checked and they're in Waikiki, but at the depot. I hope we get them today. |
Hello! You're almost here!:snap:
|
OMG, you mean there's more after this ?!?
I'd better check the LAPADIGI. :D |
Wait, you guys are in the states? Why doesn't anyone tell me these things?!
|
ARGH on the phone delay! Darn postal service!

Two good quotes from today:
Japanese tourist: "the [Top of waikiki] restaurant must be closed, I can't see it revolving (looking at the outside of the building)" Stoat (re: Sea Life Park): "I aint paying fvcking $30 to see no porpoise doin' a backflip" [edited by Stoat to include] "I just got scammed into shelling out $30 to get three lei's". |
I almost got beheaded by a Japanese tourist when I tried to surf off Waikiki.
|
So,
Waking up to the dulcet strains of the garbage trucks at 7am, we all thought it would be nice to go down to the breakfast with itty bitty sausages, large pancakes and lashings of maple syrup plus fresh pineapple and OJ. All for $3 - not bad value at all. I mentioned to the server that Sugar free maple syrup was unavailable at home, and she came running after me with a whole unopened bottle of it for me to take home !!! Gotta love Hawaiian Hospitality. From there, we got our wireless network set up on the computer so we had connectability, then went for a leisurely walk around the area, just to wear off the pancakes, and discovered that of the 500 buses that went to Ala Moana, only one was coming soon, and in fact it left the rank just as we arrived. Assured that more were going there, we waited as every OTHER bus came past, however eventually one number we recognised off our list came past, and LashMamma looked down at the list of numbers, looked up at the bus and cried triumphantly "Bingo" Ala Moana is Big. Really Big. We managed to miss the Foodland store we wanted, but we found the Sunglasses store, so Stoat and I now have a sporty new look, and we found Macy's, so Rob now has two yummy Hawaiian shirts by Tori Richard, and Stoat and Rob how have two new pairs of Joggers. All on special. yay. Oh and lots of Sockettes. We found Sees Candies !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they gave us a couple to try and we got a small selection, which (now that we're back) we can't find !! On the rooftop we found the Mai Tai Bar, and had....... milk. No, not really, we had three beautiful trad Mai Tai's which made the rest of the shopping easier. After a fabulous day of being separated from our money in a variety of novel ways, we made our way back to the unit, where Stoat sat on the balcony overlooking the parking lot and road, nursing a Margarita. Occasionally he would describe what he was observing, such as "Bear...Bear!!! - that drunken bling-clad yo-boy with the two pop tarts just tore the front corner off his car on the garden bed, and then ran over the tyre stops and scraped the sump pan". ..."Should i go down and help him, or the cussing lady across the street that's burning out her starter motor because she's run out of gas"? Thinking better of it, Stoat reflected "No...I'll let that nice local person doing the drug deals help her...he has an honest face - she'll be fine." Later, (about 2 hours later) Stoat had wished he had the number for the AAA Service. It could have helped her avoid listening to the drunken bums across the road. I don't know if the AAA is for cars for alcoholics...but either way it would have help her. We don't like watching other people's misfortunes, but it is refreshing when it isn't us for once!!! It's perversely relaxing. The Margarita helps too. Folks are really friendly here. Stoat also spotted a well-built marine type wearing a T Shirt with very large letters "BI" written on the front. He thought he had died and gone to heaven, calling out "Bear...Bear !!!" - until the guys' towel revealed the "F" of "FBI". We also spoke with ~MS~ and CoasterMatt and Rose to settle more plans (these people are amazing...somehow they seemed to know we were coming to the US). We've also lined up (using an eyebrow pencil) some more time with Gemini. Bear says Diamond Head - Stoat says Church on Sunday with all seven Stations of the Cross with Chardonnay and crackers. We are thinking the Zoo and the (porpoise-free) Aquarium today. Stay tuna-ed. |
Thanks for the updates. They make sitting here in my office so much more.... errr, is suckie a word?
|
My only consolation is that it is an abso-effing-fantastorama-beeYOU-ti-ful day here. Can you say, spring-fever?!
I do not hate them quite so much. |
But you didn't call me.
Fine. FINE! |

OOOPS....
The time share sounds like it's in the a great part of town! The shopping sounds wonderful....sugar free Maple syrup Woot! How generous of the nice lady! |
It sucks that I have to work while the LashTrio are in town. Bleh. And it's all boring data entry and totally mind-numbing. Double Bleh.

Bear...Bear!!! Don't confuse Ms. Not with Moni. Moni has called us lots of times. We don’t know her and she doesn’t us. But she has called us at least seven times. She thinks we are David. I don’t know why we have his old cell number…and you wouldn’t believe what she has been texting him. It made my little stoat toes curl. It was like a Jerry Springer show. Anyway, NA please get off the phone so we can call you. Oh wait – that’s us holding up your line…so hang up on us so we can ring you and talk. God this is complicated. David – please call Moni and tell her to put her cell where the sun don’t shine…she’s a bitch anyway. Come to think of it dude, you’re a dag, so follow suit, and this isn’t Green Acres so get of our party line. Will someone please pass the Tylenol. Love and hugs, The Stoat XXX. |

And um, when do you arrive exactly? I'd love to see you both. Is there a schedule posted? |
Off to the Aloha Bears tonight.... hope I can see straight afterwards to type this evenings update....
|
No, there's no schedule posted......ANYWHERE. And there are absolutely NO threads talking about their trip either. NONE!
|
I didn't know you could see straight in the first place :D
|
Wekl, wer bakc frm nte bar an dthe trop repoft can eait unwil tomworerwo i thinks as tje dronks were a but strrong a BIT.
|
So glad to see you two are having a wonderful time so far on your fantastic journey!
I'm taking notes so that when I finally make it out to Disneyland (maybe next year...depends on how long it takes me to pedal all the way) that there will be 25 threads dedicated to the trip and a wiki. Why? Because I can and the trip means as much to me as this trip means for you guys. I can't wait to read about your exploits every day! :D |

Here, have some more to drink. You'll feel better. Or die from alcohol poisoning I don't know which. |
(Note to self... Don't let the Lashpair know that there is a gay bar in walking distance of our house. What? Oh, dang!)

Day 3, Friday 27th March
Today we had Scrambled Eggs a la Bear (really creamy and lovely – I do them in the Microwave, and the folks travelling to Yosemite are going to get a taste of them) and then we walked to the Honolulu Zoo along the road closest to the beach (Kuhio). The water was as still as a pond, and looked really quite tranquil.
On the way we stopped for some Hawaii shot glasses at the markets, and Rob got a fridge magnet saying “Milk Sucks – Got Margaritas?” We then found the Zoo, which was closer than we had expected. We enjoyed the Zoo very much. It was funny to see the Kookaburras in cages like a strange and unusual exhibit, as I used to provide titbits for a family of 4 of them back home (when growing up in North Rocks) and so I had a good chuckle. The Kookaburra didn’t laugh back. What a Jackass. ;) The Lion unfortunately was no longer in residence. Due to declining quality of life the zoo has sent him to Lion Heaven :( . We did see a Red Cardinal, though. Lunch at the zoo - OMG – SPAM Musubi. YUM!!!. I must have Hawai’ian blood in me, because I LOVE SPAM. I even bought a cookbook (getting ahead of myself –this was on Sunday) called “Hawai’i Cooks With SPAM.” I truly kid you not. Stoat’s horrified (“What a preservative thought the Stoat”). Anyhoo, we finished up at the zoo, bought some flashing keychains as souvenirs (solar powered, they’ll provide years of amusement “So we won’t forget our names said the Stoat”) and then headed out to the nearest beachside bar for Mai Tai’s at Lulu’s Waikiki. There was a happy hour going, so we got them for $5 each. We’re convinced now that HI doesn’t build drinks as strong as in CA. We then walked to the Pink Palace (Royal Hawaiian Hotel) and tried to buy a Pink Bathrobe. No Way Jose. Not even if you’re staying there. They’ve stopped selling them, which is really a missed marketing opportunity. We then got back to the hotel and called Not Afraid to see how she was going, and if we could speak to Thurston. He was in the shower, but Lisa was happy to chat to us. Then we got dolled up, left mum in the unit with strict instructions not to drink all the Tequila, and went to the Aloha Bears bar night at Tapas Lanai Bar. The gentleman we had talked to all the way from Sydney to Honolulu on the plane just happened to be the barman there, so we got some good deals on drinks that night Hehehe. We ordered Pork Quesadillas for Pu-Pu’s (hehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehe, I said Pu-Pu’s :D ) and met some wonderful guys. We got invited to a party the following night, but alas we weren’t able to make it on the day. Pity, as it was a Weenies and Buns party. Brad came over to the bar to see us, and we ended the evening catching up with him, which was great fun to do, as we never got to know Mr Cricket all that well last trip. Got home too late for spa Made margarine-as Went to bed. |
Say Honolulu Zoo three times, and click your heels.
|
Sounds like great fun, Lash. Also sounds warm- you're gonna be freezing your paws off up here!:D

Now, as we bid aloha to the fair tropics, we would like to say a HUGE MAHALO to our wonderful tour guide, host, drinking companion, dining advisor and newly adopted brother (Mum has declared him to be #3 Son) Brad.
Words really aren't enough to describe what you've done for us, and how much of a difference you made. You're one in a million, and we'll never forget this trip ever.  :snap: :snap: Though we move on now, we'll be watching from the other end of the computer, and we'll never really be all that far away. PS: Don't forget that $2 a day into the jar, cos you'd better get your butt down to Australia real soon. We owe you one heck of a party !! Aloha, & Big Bear Hugs & Smooches, The LashTrio. |

Yesterday was a blast! Met the LashPair + May at their hotel, got an update on Deebs and Gracie and we made our way down Powell Street to catch a N Judas to Golden Gate Park.
They're staying at a hotel on Bush Street just a few blocks from where I lived when I first moved to SF. They're right over the Stockton Tunnel and across the street from the infamous spot where Brigid O'Shaunnessey shot Miles Archer. Being an avid Dashiell Hammett fan, I amde sure to point it out whether or not they had any interest. The newly dubbed N Judas line is very picturesque, once it goes above ground, passing Duboce Park and UCSF and the very fun section of Irving street. It was a gorgeous day in town, really, unseasonably warm (75) and perfect. Before heading into the park, we paused at a corner Gyros spot so the Bear and Stoat could get a bite to eat. Attachment 1053 The hot sauce was very hot! We then strolled into the park and made our way to the newly redone California Academy of Sciences. This was a favorite stop for me when I was a kid and it was nice to see a few familiar things, including the gator pond! Attachment 1058 The albino gator was newly returned to the pond after getting into a fracas with another gator. He/she lost a toe, but it sufficiently recovered. Totally relaxed and enjoyed posting and moving only a little. Why bother, the people came to him/her anyway! Attachment 1054 Looking down on the coral reefs exhibit from above, I found Nemo. We also walked over a pond filled with little sharks and rays. Attachment 1056 The "aquarium" setting on my camera worked very well, I'm just a lousy photographer. Many of the pics still came out fuzzy. With moon jellies, it does not really matter, I guess. Attachment 1055 Next stop, Japanese Tea Garden & we meet up with Deebs! |

Part way through the Steinhart, we got the call that Deebs and Gracie were in the park. We cut the rest of the visit short and made our way across to the Japanese Tea Garden. I was really excited and happy to finally meet Deebs.
Attachment 1062 Sadly, as soon as we entered the tea garden, Stoat was attacked by some bright blue japanese beetles. Only he was affected. We met a squirrel by the gift shop and I managed a snap or two. Attachment 1063 We also met a very forward and hussy like duck as we had some tea at the tea house. Brazen wench, ate many goodies and then went back to the pond where a handsome boy duck decided it was time for shagging. Thos pics did not make it on to my flash drive. I believe Gracie got action shots of the shagging ducks. Ran across an artist drawing the Buddha Attachment 1059 This was from his viewpoint. Attachment 1060 The cherry blossoms were in full bloom, everything but the wisteria Attachment 1061 The bulk of my pics did not make it on the flash drive. Includign the rest from the tea garden and our stop at the conservatory of flowers. We then walked to Geary, caught the #38 and headed for Japantown for some eatz. We failed in trip report fashion to photograph any food, not even any plastic food. At that we parted, I was tired, full, content and knew it was a school night and had to head back home. It was a fabulously fun day! |

LOVE the squirrel! :snap: He looks to be smiling in that last shot. ;)
Only a week from today and we get to see our Bears in Yosemite! I'm excited! :D |
What great photos, thanks for sharing!!!! It's too bad about the blue beetle infestation tho!
After all the planning and waiting it's hard to believe they are finally HERE! We're on countdown here too! |
OK - this is goodbye (Temporarily) until we get to wendybeth's place tomorrow night.
Oh, Wendybeth, we're coming to your place to see you, OK? We're housebroken, we promise. More trip diary to come I promise, but for now, SFO's been GREAT and we had a ball - it finished with the worlds strongest Mai Tai at the Tonga Room with Snowflake. See Y'all soon. The LashPair. |
Good thing you're housebroken- we're low on kitty litter.

And, I need to ask - can I pick up any type of chain from a home improvement store, or do they have to be from a sex shop? And, what is the return policy? Will they take them back "used and slightly messy" or do they need to be wiped off? Do they need to be a certain gauge of restraint? How about fur lining to protect the limbs? If so, would I have to use faux or real fur? If real fur, what will PETA think? Maybe I'll also buy a mask to hide my face from the angry animal-protecting mobs who will follow our car all the way north with pitchforks in hand. When it comes down to it though... is it really worth the risk? ;) |
We've decided that Spokane is lovely-so much so that we aren't ever leaving. The new Swank Lounge is at the Davenport hotel- much bigger and far more ornate than the Hearthstone, and they serve cashews.
(Okay, so this isn't the Bear. It's Wendybeth, but I'm not giving them up! They're too cute! We luvs them!:D) |
and I love, er, me, too.
|
You sure love yourself, don't ya?
|
Soooo.....
We really are in love, and I don't think we'll give them up easily. Were it not for the prospect of Yosemite, I would be very upset at the prospect of sharing them. So far, Lash has taught Tori to make killer Long Islands, and Stoat is working hard to win over our dog, Mellie. |
I'm thinking it's a darn good thing I came up with a serious bribe to get them on the plane on Saturday huh?
|
Whatever.;)
|
Well, it's now 3:56 AM and I've just finished plying Wendybeth with Long Island Iced Teas, and Tim Tams and she's pleasantly Pasted.
So am I for that matter. *hic* We're getting up late tomorrow. so there. Neener. Deal. |
