To Do List

I thought that, maybe if I had a thread where I could list all of the shyt I need to do, I wouldn't feel so guilty about posting when I should be doing.

So:

Yosemite Trip Information Doc
Taxes
Business license
Organize office
Order window blinds
Buy ceiling fan
Clean Fish Tank
Make Dr's appt
Yosemite meal plan

OK. I feel much better now.....until I think of more to add.

Feel free to contribute.

€uroMeinke 03-29-2009 08:16 PM

We should take it to the Do Lab

Kevy Baby 03-30-2009 12:48 AM

Well, according to Twitter, you got at least one thing done tonight:

We finally got mom's place cleaned out today- huge job, as she was a collector of CRAP that took two trips to Goodwill and three loads to the dump to get rid of. Good lord.

Now, I need to:

Spring clean- no way I'm letting **** accumulate like my mom did.
Finish painting the dining room and office before the Lashpair arrive.

Clean carpets- it was a long and messy winter.

Finish the guest room. We're thinking of calling it the "IASW Suite", as Tori's porcelain dolls are all stashed in there. We'll man it up a bit for the Lashpair, but moving the dolls might be a bigger PITA than I can deal with at the moment. I also enjoy the idea of 'IASW"........ (Oh, and there are some Kinkade prints in there as well- two lithos that used to be worth some serious change. None of DL, but oh well.....).

Have a lot of fun when Rob and Greg get here.

Well done, wendybeth. Feels good?

My list:
  • Price out Amtrak w/ sleeper from SF to Chicago, via Santa Fe
  • Take our two cats to the vet for routine maintenance
  • Work on Chpt. 2 of current project.
  • Replenish roll of quarters for car. (Illinois is nothing but toll roads. Chicago and back is almost $10 in tolls.)
  • Get that stupid old white architect's table out of the study and back to the porch where it belongs.
  • Iron ... like that's gonna happen.

Have a good and productive day, all!

Iron? What's that? Is that that medieval torture device they used to chain women to before Downy Wrinkle Releaser was invented? ;)

(Or one could always toss a wet towel into the dryer with a load of wrinkly clothes and a few minutes later... freshly steamed clothes! Provided, of course, that you remove them immediately)

scaeagles 03-30-2009 06:51 AM

Glad I'm not the only one who hasn't done my taxes. Crap. Just read that it looks like NA actually has done her taxes. Sigh.

Cadaverous Pallor 03-30-2009 07:47 AM

I was just thinking this morning that I need to dedicate at least a half hour each night to chores. I used much of my Sunday for the usual jobs and it bugs me that I get that far behind. I didn't get anywhere near finishing.

Vacuum (incl. upstairs)
File new car stuff
File everything else
A million other things I can't remember right now

Not Afraid 03-30-2009 09:08 AM

I have NOT done my taxes.

Kevy's spreading rumors about me again!

I hope that works out better for you than it did for us. Cancer insurance is notoriously tough to collect on.

(My dad died of leukemia, except the first cause of death on his certificate was pneumonia so, technically, he died of complications from leukemia, not leukemia itself.)

katiesue 03-30-2009 11:02 AM

Hopefully - she had already submitted some paperwork and gotten paid for her original surgery and some of the chemo I believe. Just more crap to follow up on.

We haven't recieved colour samples from either of you yet. How are we meant to approve of the colour if we don't have samples?

SzczerbiakManiac 03-30-2009 12:32 PM

This is America! There are no such things as "colour samples" here! Nor do we have any of that "aluminium" crap! So you better just watch yourself, ya fermented-yeast-eating time-traveler...!

We also don't have harbours, nor do we have theatres where you can write cheques to see our favourite films. In fact, it would take an encylycopaedia to catalogue all the words we don't have. Please don't criticise my post, or you'll have an arguement on your hands.

I think I'll just crawl into my pyjamas and watch a programme on my TV.

Cuppa, anyone? Bacon sandwich with crusts cut off, dear?

ToriBear 03-30-2009 01:45 PM

I have to:

Clean out my closet, (Which will take a year to do,)

Go through my drawers, (I can't even pull it out without it getting stuck or popping out,)

And last, but not least: help finish painting the wall with Mom, (which won't take long, since we only have a wall and an half to do.)

And yeah, Mom's mother had tons of junk and crap. It's a wonder how she lived up 'till now. Took seven hours to do a small apartment filled with, well, crap. We're still sore today from all that lifting and going up and down the stairs. It didn't help that it snowed and then rained, (which I was happy about while everyone was moody about it, *Rolls eyes* ) and when we were done, the sky was blue. Figures!

Tom 03-31-2009 10:44 AM

Today is prepare-taxes day.

Tomorrow is meet-with-accountant day.

I have chosen not to read anything into our accountant scheduling the meeting for April 1st.

Kevy Baby 03-31-2009 10:47 AM

It is funny hearing people talk about their taxes. I had mine completed in the end of January and had my Federal refund the first week of February. Got our State refund a couple of weeks ago.

But the again 1) our taxes are simple since we don't own a home or have a business, and 2) I had a strong incentive with the refund.

Ghoulish Delight 03-31-2009 10:50 AM

And on that note - federal refund was deposited today. w00t!

Not Afraid 03-31-2009 10:53 AM

Our taxes are anything but easy anymore. I have my own business and I actually made a decent amount of money last year. We are meeting with an accountant for the first time ever on Thursday. I hope he has some good news for us.

SzczerbiakManiac 03-31-2009 11:03 AM

I did my taxes in late January also, but have yet to receive my State refund. Last I heard, CA was issuing IOUs. Has that changed?

Ghoulish Delight 03-31-2009 11:13 AM

I believe a budget has been signed and refunds are being sent. If you go to the Franchise Tax Board site, you can enter your SSN, street number of your address, zip code, and the exact amount of your refund to see the status. (link) Ours was authorized on Friday. It says it will take 25 business days from the authorization date to receive the check if you filed by mail, 10 days if you filed electronically.

katiesue 03-31-2009 11:36 AM

I got my state refund on Friday, filed the middle of Feb.

You know if a big refund makes you happy you could send me $2,000 today and I'll send it back to you Feb 2010.

Sigh of relief taken
Refund will be here in 3 weeks
Thank GOD!

Did my taxes a couple weeks ago. The end result was a number with a comma in it. And the first digit was crooked.

So I'm waiting until the 15th to actually send it in.

Morrigoon 04-02-2009 11:13 PM

Found new shoes! That wasn't on today's task list, but it was on the need to accomplish at some point list and I got lucky today, they were $11!

Also got my oil changed and dropped stuff off at the post office.

Now I'm imagining that evil plant coming to life, whipping vines around your legs, tendrils curling into your hair, as you chop at it in a frenzy of life-or-death.

It was annoying enough as it was.

Drince88 04-04-2009 10:50 AM

ARe you wanting the vine to go away for good? Might want to consider some 'blackberry and brush killer' or the like dabbed on the cut ends.

Ghoulish Delight 04-04-2009 10:55 AM

No, just hacking it back from the garage roof. I might eventually want to get rid of it, but that's a trickier decision. We don't have a trellis on our side, the vine grows up and over our fence where our neighbors have a trellis. I'm sure it's entirely within my rights to chop it off without a word to them...but I'm not a prick.

scaeagles 04-05-2009 08:18 PM

Finally did my taxes today.
