April Fools Pranks
Paste your favorite April Fools pranks here.
And I see that Google US has their April Fools prank up: Cognitive Autoheuristic Distributed-Intelligence Entity From MacRumors.com: I just learned that if you append "&flip=1" to a YouTube page, it results in an interesting view: Example: Apple's 1984 commercial (flipped) Google Australia's gBall |
i seem to a remember a certain LoT inaugural prank that still makes me laugh ... and then shudder ... and then laugh some more. :D

How about this from the same year:

Somehow I missed that whole fracas from the past. Interesting stuff.
:D |
Heeeyyyyy; nice fracas

A short lived Woot
![]() Random Crap $3.00 + $1,000,000.00 shipping CONDITION: Crappy PRODUCT: 3 Random Crap |
With the right shipping code (aka SNAIL) you could get that shipping cost down - $999,995 off. But of course, I missed the whole thing because I didn't even know it was "bag of crap" day until I got the twitter that it was sold out. And that was driving home from the park, so it sold very quick.

Back in the days when businesses answered with a live person instead of a robot, this was one I did once in a while:
I'd send my boss a phone message that Tim Lyon had called, and give him the phone number for the L.A. Zoo .... wherein even though they promptly answered "L.A. Zoo," he would invariably ask on autopilot, "Is Mr. Lyon in?" [Bart Laughter] Hahahahahahahahahaa [/bart laughter] |

My Mom just back back from San Francisco at 3AM this morning. When she woke up this morning she was greeted by my Grandma saying they needed to talk after breakfast. My Mom was deeply concerned and asked what the problem was. Grandma said they should sit down to talk.
She then informed my Mom that she was moving out. My mom was distressed and says " But where will you go Mom?!' and Grandma says " She doesn't know but she's leaving!" My Mom started to freak out, saying she was going to call her brother and that she can't do that! Grandma then stands up and says " April Fools!!" You have to understand that Grandma is 90+ and has NEVER pulled a prank in her life. I just about died laughing when Mom called me. She was torn between laughing and wanting to scream! Way to go Grandma, I'm so proud of you!! |
My Mom told me about a prank one of her co-workers made something that looked like, well, crap, and put it in a baggy. Then, he put the bag in her station, on her chair and waited for her to come and see it. And when she did, oh man, she screamed and was grossed out. Of course, she knew who did it, so she got him back afterwords.
I have yet to done a prank, since everybody sees right through me when I try. |
Darn. I went to The Onion hoping to find nothing but actual headlines and real news stories.

We had something similar at work a year or two back. Using an old pile of dried up glue (it was a big brown pile) that looked like a pile of poo... it was set on the seat of an office toilet.
Office manager comes in and says OH. MY. GOD!!!!... puts an out of order sign on the door after everyone sees just how gross one of their coworkers supposedly is... Until the prankster goes over and picks it up... hee hee. It was pretty funny. We tent to be more about hiding fake mice in various common places people put their hands... like next to their computer mouse... or a large fake rat in a file drawer. (works great since we have an on again off again rodent issue.) |
|
There was quite a bit of fun going on at work (behind the scenes) today.
There were upside down signs and misplaced signs in the operations building. A bench found it's way into one of the elevators. One of the display cases near wardrobe was taken over by a pair of shoes- ![]() This prop was setup near the guard station at the front of the building ![]() Now, one of the cool things that we have all the time, is on each floor of the Walter Lantz building, there's a display with props from different movies. Today, one of those displays was just a LITTLE different. ![]() ![]() :D |
That's some damned realistic looking money

My wife teaches 6th grade science. Today she told her students that at approximately 8:43am there was to be an alignment of Jupiter, Saturn, and Venus that has a gravitational effect on the earth that reduces gravity to only 18.3% of the normal gravitational pull. So to be sure they didn't miss it, they went outside at 8:40 and she had them start jumping so they could jump approximately 6 times their normal jumping height. They stood there and jumped for 6 minutes before she told them it was a joke.
BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!! |
Damn her! Sure, it was a joke but 2 kids in that class will grow up remembering it but not remembering that it was a joke and they'll lead cults to mass suicide because they believe planetary alignments have significant consequences for Earth!
It's all fun and games until 163 stupid but honestly believing people hang themselves in the desert moment before the Earth and the sun enter that rare situation of forming a line. |
Just reducing the surplus population.

OMG, I didn't even think to check Improv Everywhere yesterday!!
They put up a video, "Best Funeral Ever". One of their earliest pranks was "best concert ever" where they went to a completely unknown band's show at a small venue that would have no one in attendance with a bunch of people and rocked out as if they were huge fans of the band. Well, this one was, supposedly, a similar concept where they pulled an obituary from someone with few surviving relatives, and show up with 30 people to make it the "best funeral ever". With predictable disastrous results. It was, of course 100% fake. EVERYONE in the video (here it is, I'm assuming it didn't have the disclaimer saying it's fake yesterday) is in on it, including the supposedly grieving family. There was no actual funeral. Well, not only did they fool legions of dumb YouTube viewers (see the comments), the geniuses in their local CW affiliates newsroom also managed to miss the joke, airing a report about it on the 10:00 news. :D :D :D :D Man do I love them clever Improv Everywhere folks. |
OMG: that is hilarious. I am amused how dumb some news people can be.
Reminds me of when the Aliso Viejo City Council wanted to ban DHMO* * Yeah, I know there is more to the story of that; that is just the extreme shorthand version |
I haven't had a chance to go looking for anything today, but I did see a few courtesy of Mac Rumors

Speaking of ThinkGeek, I really like their fake product Lightsaber Popsicles. Be sure to watch the video and to then download the MP3s.

My favorites from Think Geek today were the De-3D glasses and the arsenic-based sea monkeys.

The GMail Motion thing was fun.
I loved the twitter one that complained about the worst a$$hole on facebook, and linked to YOUR facebook profile. Hahahaha. That one actually got me for like 3 minutes (because, in my case, yeah, it's quasi-believable). |

I've been posting about DHMO for years, incuding this post.
The Aliso Viejo incident happened; read about it at the end of the Snopes page about DHMO and here. |
Oue new dentist office has an electronic board that has an ad for a better smile. Well on Friday the people in the ad had black, crooked, gaping teeth. Then it flashed a huge April Fools/ I was laughing so hard, it was great!
