The Official Lashpair 2009 Cocktail Party

We will be hosting an evening of Cocktails and Australians on Friday April 24th beginning at 7:00 PM.

Please PM me to RSVP and get directions.

(Don't yell at me for creating yet another LashTrip thread. Lisa made me!)

You may now discuss and derail.

Not Afraid 04-04-2009 02:29 PM

I know how to get to your house. But, we'll be there (that's 2 of us) what foodstuffs do you want us to bring?

CoasterMatt 04-04-2009 03:04 PM

damn it...

I will be off work, but stuck out in the valley, taking care of the kids.

Anything you'd like. I'm going to be serving hor d'oeuvre-y nibbly stuff.

Kevy Baby 04-04-2009 05:28 PM

My cheese is not happy. The MS Walk is the next morning and I have to set up that evening (and try t get to bed at a reasonable hour).

innerSpaceman 04-04-2009 05:29 PM

My cheese is pleased to attend.

Thank you in advance to our kind hosts.

Disneyphile 04-05-2009 12:09 PM

Ken and I are a definite, but may be a tad late, depending on what time I return from my NAB trip. :)

My cheese is, likewise, pretty chuffed to appear.

BarTopDancer 04-05-2009 01:22 PM

My cheese is in flux until the playoff schedule is released. Presuming we make the playoffs. If we don't my cheese may just be annoyed and will remain at home.

Ghoulish Delight 04-05-2009 01:38 PM

Wait, they're going to be in town? Wow, learn something new every day. Guess we should come say hi then.

LSPoorEeyorick 04-05-2009 02:37 PM

I think there's a good chance we'll make it, but we'll be late because work doesn't end until 6:30 and Friday traffic between LA and LB is always a challenge.

CoasterMatt 04-05-2009 03:00 PM

I can get down there- but I don't know about getting home.

madmonkeygirl 04-05-2009 03:27 PM

I'm not going to make it since i'll be in Vegas seeing Bon Jovi that evening.

lashbear 04-05-2009 07:53 PM

I think we can make it, but I'll have to check the LAPADIGI.

You had better make it!

Nephythys 04-06-2009 06:50 AM

hrmmm- depending on how late this event goes- we may be able to attend.

How far is it from my landing spot at Disneyland?

Capt Jack 04-06-2009 07:57 AM

we'll be there for MA a day or two later, but sadly cannot do the cocktail party....

:sad cheese:

About 15 miles - so 10-30 minutes, depending on traffic.

Neph, are you flying in that night? Which airport? Are you renting a car?

What... is the air-speed velocity of an unladen swallow?

Driving in- leaving Thursday early afternoon- should be there early Friday afternoon-planning on spending some time at the parks. After that would like to come to the cocktail party- provided it runs late enough to accomodate both. If not I will see everyone Saturday-

JWBear 04-06-2009 09:13 AM

I imagine the party will run as long as there are still people there. How late are you talking?

Not Afraid 04-06-2009 09:49 AM

You can always call the hot line.

Um, since you're staying here, why don't you just ride with us? We probably won't be leaving home until 8-8:30'ish, because I don't expect to roll into town until after 6.

Good question- we do plan to spend time at the park. But I think DP has the best idea.

That might work- though I may drive myself. That way if Rose gets iffy we can leave-or if she and I wanted to go commando on the park (no, not naked...storm trooper commando)-we could depart and go play more. Of course I am a crazy lunatic and after the drive I may just want to relax....after we play for a while...

anywhoodle-count us in for being there. One way or the other- if you could PM me the address I can plug you into my GPS. Actually I need DP's (I have it somewhere- as usual) and JW's.

Gemini Cricket 04-06-2009 04:17 PM

I'd like to take this opportunity in this thread to say that Australian accents are hard to do. I had a hell of a time of it when the LashTrio was in town and watching the Australia episode of 'The Simpsons' it doesn't seem like any of them (except maybe Shearer) could do one very well either.

That is all.

:D

Eliza Hodgkins 1812 04-06-2009 04:19 PM

I don't think E and I will make it by 7, but I think we can make it.

SzczerbiakManiac 04-06-2009 04:24 PM

When I tried to do an Ashtralian accent for the LashQuad a few years ago, I was told the resulting accent was South African.

So evidently I do a good South African accent, but not so hot Australian...

I hope you've been practicing - there might be a test. :D

Morrigoon 04-19-2009 11:04 PM

Figured this thread could use a timely bump, since it's this coming Friday :)

Nephythys 04-20-2009 06:05 AM

Rose and I will be there-and I have the address. :) Can not wait to see you all so soon!

lashbear 04-20-2009 09:20 AM

YAY!! BLT's all round.

keith - SuPeR K! 04-20-2009 10:27 AM

I'll be heading down to San Diego from Vegas that night and I'm planning to stop by for a bit on my way!

I won't be at the park Saturday as my AP is blocked, but I will be there Sunday :)

lashbear 04-20-2009 10:51 AM

for a bit of what?

JWBear 04-20-2009 12:36 PM

If I don't get over whatever I have, it will be a do-it-yourself party. :(

Nephythys 04-22-2009 06:52 AM

woot- hitting the road tomorrow!

augh! packing to do!

Prudence 04-22-2009 09:22 AM

Is JWBear recovered? Is the party still happening? Is it fancy dress?

Not Afraid 04-22-2009 09:23 AM

The party will happen no matter what. If John is not feeling better we will move the party to my house. We should know by today or tomorrow at the latest.

As for dress, well, that's up to you.

lashbear 04-22-2009 09:26 AM

Nope, they're at some Long Beach

Mousey Girl 04-22-2009 09:34 AM

Nah, I spent the weekend with 2 random people.

JWBear 04-22-2009 09:56 AM

I'm feeling much better today. The party is still on!

Please do not expect anything fancy, though. We lost most of our prep time. We'll have drinks and some basic food. If anyone wants to bring munchies to share, please do!

How secure is Thurston? They're not going to steal him, are they?

Thurston...is that the cute doggy who kept bringing me a stuffed Olive? I think I tried to kidnap him Sunday, but as soon as I said let's go see what your folks are doing he pulled me up the hill.

I believe there was approximately 10 tons of snacks at Yosemite: maybe those could be repurposed?

Looking forward to seeing the foreigners.

Damn... I don't think I'm gonna be able to get there after all :(

Kevy Baby 04-23-2009 05:35 PM

I don't know if I stated this earlier, but I am not going to be able to make it: I have to set up for the MS Walk the next morning. Even if we get done at a reasonable hour (which we usually aren't), I still have to get up at 4:00 the next morning.

We're bringing low-sodium V8 juice, instead of the regular tomato/bloody mary mix to see if it brings out the flavor better without being so salty. So, we can have a couple different types. :D

I'll also pre-mix the bacon bouillon and chill it, so it'll be a ready-made mix-in for all of them. :)

JWBear 04-24-2009 02:25 PM

We bought bloody mary mix, vodka (lots of vodka!) and lettuce. We're thawing out our last pound of leftover Yosemite bacon... ;)

I dunno, but I was at the first breakfast and we went through 3 cans of MRE bacon and each can had 50 slices in it. What does this tell you?

alphabassettgrrl 04-24-2009 04:01 PM

See, the mass consumption I understand.

Leftovers, though? Wierd.

Want us to nix the vodka then? We hadn't picked that up yet. But, we're still bringing the V8 and pre-made bouillon.

Would you like us to bring anything else? :)

No. It is too hot to wear flannel pajamas to the park.

No commando checking, folks.

JWBear and SCC: Thanks for a lovely party. Your home is gorgeous. :)

Actually, I think that was the most "classic" cocktail party I've ever been to.

Disneyphile 04-25-2009 01:18 PM

BLTs all around! ;)

JWBear 04-25-2009 03:21 PM

A party is only as good as the guests who attend. Thank you all for coming.

Cadaverous Pallor 04-25-2009 09:17 PM

Had a blast! :D

For those early birds with whom we discussed a long gone attraction...here and here.

second class citizen 05-03-2009 04:57 PM

So glad everyone had a delightful time at the party. I had reservations about accomodating so many people in our bottlenecked living/dining room, but it seemed that the closeness of quarters only helped to stimulate the crowd.

Well, that and copious amounts of alcohol.

Here are pics of two of the guests. The first is a real party animal. The second is what you get when you take one bear, give it a martini and then add a BLT.
