What Price Disneyland?
I have an opportunity to bring the entire Moonie family unit out for a day at Disneyland in late August.
However I'm not sure the visit would be worth the cost. I would have to attend a family reunion. It's possible I might even have to *gasp* visit Disneyland with them. I'm conflicted. |
Your friends can act as a buffer at Disneyland for the reunion. So, that problem is solved.
Is anyone in your immediate family having a birthday that month? That'll help cut your cost by $69. |
Easy solution - show up to Disneyland with your family, nice and early. Then start giving them facts. Everything you know about Disneyland (true or no). Everything. "You know, that used to be a parking lot over there. Steve Martin used to work in that magic shop. The bricks that line Main Street were imported by Walt from Italy. The names on all the windows are of imagineers and other Disney notables. If you look at the Partners statue at just the right angle, from near the Frontierland entrance, Mickey's nose looks like Walt's...."
They'll have ditched you by the time you make it to the castle, voila, you're free to spend the day at Disneyland without 'em. |
Family schmamily, ditch them for an emergency meeting (at Disneyland) and any other interested immediate family moonies.
|
Is the family reunion a separate event from DL? If so, don't tell them you're going to the park and then go. If they find out, tell them you're going to meet some friends you haven't seen in awhile. That should clue them in that you want to be alone with your friends.
|
Well, 1 day 1 park tickets are an arm. Add a leg for hoppers.
Maybe your AAA office has a deal on tickets? There is always a chance that DLR will be offering discounted tickets through the grocery stores out here this summer. That should bring your cost per ticket down to first born. |
I think the "Price" he's talking about is having to spend the time with his family, I don't think he's concerned about the cost of going to Disneyland.

Tell your family it's Gay Goth Cheerleaders Day on the day you're going.

And I am operating on the assumption that all of the cheerleaders are female. And they aren't necessarily gay; just more "bi-curious." And that they don't mind me watching. And of course they are of legal age. So, what day is it? |

As for the tickets, I once bought a 1-day park hopper for less than two hours total in the parks. Best damn time I ever had at DLR. :D (even if Kevy was there....) |

Ps: That month? I thought it was for a specific day? |

Wow. Round trips from DC to LAX are: $218.00
That's pretty damn good. |
One way to Australia is $299.

You can always do the VIP Experience at Universal Studios again ;)
It includes a yummy lunch buffet now, too. |

Disneyland AND Disney's California Adventure, plus Downtown Disney and the hotels offer so many options for people of different interest.
It's very common for groups/families to start the day together, then split up by the afternoon based on what they want to do: thrill seekers (Tower of Terror, California Screamin', Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad) vs. child-friendly attractions vs. easy-going indoor attractions (Animation Building, Enchanted Tiki Room, Aladdin - A Musical Spectacular), etc. So, you can still go to Disneyland and then head off for separate, legitimate reasons. And if a lot of LoTers show up, then we could drag you away, too! |
I got to teach a friend and her family "Goat Trick" on Sunday. They liked it.

Now if only you were at Disneyland at the time...
