Exactly- I'm going to Cold Stone tonight.

I know, the NERVE of them, giving out free ice cream.

I've been meaning to try the new marzipan at B&J. There's one sort of on the way to my drawing class this evening, I might as well swing by and hope for a short line. If so I'll be sure to think of you guys while enjoying my free ice cream.

I'll admit that one might get lucky and get a short to non-existent line. But every time this kind of thing gets posted, one inevitably hears about hour long waits.

I always look at the value of my time and to me anything more than about a 5-10 minute wait just isn't worth it to me (for a free scoop of ice cream). But I don't begrudge anyone else for whom the wait is aceptable.

Of course, I didn't hear about this in time ... I had a hankering for ice cream and was two seconds away from the nearest B&J. Last time I went, a couple of years ago, they had the operation so down pat that a wait for a free cone was less than that for a paid one on a "normal" day of business.



Now, if I were two seconds away from my nearest BJ and missed a free one, I'd be pissed. :p

The rub is that it's only a free cone... no ice cream included...

GD tweeted that his wait was only 5 min.

I decided against making the drive during my dinner break. Between driving to the mall, mall parking and mall walking it's more of a pain to me than it's worth.

But I'm still jealous of his 5 min wait for free ice cream.

Yup. 20 people in line, and as iSm said, with no decision beyond flavor to be made and no cash transactions, the store was a lean, mean, ice cream dispensing machine.

Sadly it doesn't seem the new flavors are in the scoop stores, so I had to settle for cake batter. mmmm, cake batter.

My nearest BJ is having a cigarette outside. Har har har. :)

Screw that, I get free popcorn from Popcornopolis every Tuesday this month :D

Here's how little I appreciate free ice cream:

Not only did I buy a pint of Haagen Dazs on the way home tonight. I bought it at a gas station. I think it cost me $213.63. And I didn't care. It's hot and I didn't have to wait in any line at all.

Sorry I mentioned it.

(Not that I really had an option since there are no conveniently located B&J stores available to me. So it was either that or go after Cold Stone for once again changing their base ice cream so that it is finally so awful that it really doesn't matter what you put in it - I do have a Cold Stone across the street.)

I just spit my ice cream, thanks Alex. It wasn't free but I put caramel and chocolate sauce on it.

I'm sorry you were forced to the dark side Alex, enjoy the yumminess though!

That stuff is PURE EVIL!!!!!
