Lashpair Disneyland Meet - Saturday 4/25
Just a reminder that the LashPair will be at the Park all day on Saturday.
We will meet at the Hub at 11 then find a place for lunch and see how the day proceeds from there. Who is in? |
We're blocked and won't be able to meet at the park. But they seemed confident that they'd end up at the Hearthstone at some point, if so we'll make a cameo there.
|
Me?
(provided I get over this cold by then) |
Maddie and I will be at the park all day. I'm sure we'll join in at some point.
|
I'm blocked on Saturday as well... I will be there on Sunday though!
|
I'm in. I need to renew my pass before Sunday's MA, so this works out nicely. Don't have an ETA just yet...
|
I am unable to make it there Saturday (photographing a Dressage horse show).
But will be at the parks all day on Sunday (just for fun with other non-LoT Disney friends), so maybe I'll try to meet up with some of you on Sunday, April 26. At least, we'll be leisurely strolling the park and watching the MouseAdventure participants scramble around. |

OMG, full Disneyland weekend. I cannot even REMEMBER when I did that last.
(Might have been the last time the Lashes were here, in fact.) |
I'm a definite possibility... If I survive the party, that is.
|
:(
Bitter San Franciscan here, no AP, too far from all the fun. I'm a cell phone call away, I may do that!:) End of whine |
I will endure the heat (to the best of my ability) for my upside down mates.
|
Might not make it by 11, but we might try to come by for part of it. Can't stay too late, though.
|
Won't be there at 11:00 (I will be wrapping things up at MS Walk OC), but may be able to make an appearance later that day.
Pretty sure we can't be there Sunday due to my being forced to attend a co-ed bridal shower (seriously?!?). |
If I work on my papers tomorrow I might be able to go!!! I have six hours tomorrow and I'm hoping I make enough progress that I can go play hookie..... :)
|
We'll be there with hangovers and sunglasses. Oh, and Berocca.
|
You know, if you all climb up on the scaffolding of Mickey's fun wheel and wave from inside one of his ears, I'll be able to see you on the JoJo webcam.... :D
|
Will there be any meet-up-opportunity later than 11?
I mean, who are we kidding?;) Even a noon meet merits perhaps a 1pm arrival at my tender age. (OMG, how am I getting to the Park at crack-o'dawn for Executioners Race MouseAdventure the next day??!) |
Anyone who leads innocent people on a 10 1/2 hike can surely be at Disneyland by 11 am! ;)
|
Perhaps, but the crowds of Saturday mid-day Disneyland are more scary to me than the Ice Stairs of Crystal Mist.
|
I'm blocked...but perhaps I will do the upgrade to premium. Of course, considering that I haven't been yet this year not sure how much sense that really makes.
|
I'll probably be around at some point but I'll have to bail before evening events to watch game 5.
|
Ok, it seems to me we have a significant black-out problem on Saturday.
Can we "schedule" a Downtown-Disney or Grand-Cal Happy Hour? |

We have SoCal, bit more of a jump
|
We should be somewhere in the vicinity around happy hour time-ish (or thereabouts)
sorry, thats about as definite as I can get at the moment. |
Okay, I'll be there for the day meet, and I'll be at work by dinner time.

I'll have to get my pass reprinted (lost my wallet last week) but it shouldn't take long. I think I'm blacked out, but it's my only opportunity so I'm going!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hub at 11. See ya there!!!!! Missing my Disneyland. Missing my Lashes. And everybody else. |
Would love to, but since I have paying work on my plate now, I need to work on projects that day. However, we'll be at Friday night's party and MA on Sunday. :)

I didn't want that possible, unexpected fee to damper the start of your Disney day, since you had such a happy post. :) |
I'll be there around 11 (11? I'm glad I looked this up) and for a while in the afternoon.
|
Is anybody going from the San Pornando valley? I'm stuck rideless, and would love to join in :(

We'll do Dinner at Mimi's at 6:30 - does that sound OK? That way there's time to eat and be back to catch the fireworks as well, then onto DTD / Grand Cal for drinkies and such.
Oh, and we'll try our hardest to be there at 11, but it is 3am now...... we may be there closer to 12 or 1. You all have my cell# |
11? i think i meant 1.
|
Lisa?? are you awake? Oops, I'd better get the coffeemaker going.
|
I wasn't the last one out of bed! Actually I was the first one. 8 am was my first awaking time. I thought that was silly since I went to sleep after 3, so I went back to bed. Can I go back to bed again? Maybe I can sleep in the shower.
|
Yawn - park? sure I can get there by 11, but does the park stay open that late tonight.
|
4:00 pm at the Hub.
That sounds about right to me. Any takers? |
The Lashpair are on their way - I still haven't showered. But unlike Yosemite and Cambria, cell phones can be used to coordinate the encounters of the day. Head out - certainly someone will be somewhere when you are.
|
The park interminably crowded. Definitely use phone for locating ppl, or you could be 15 feet away and not see them. BTW we're in NOS at present.
|
Well that worked out well. :(

Mimi's was fun. Bummed we can't breach the park but we may actually get some rest for MA tomorrow, when we'll see many of you again. :)
|
We're home for good. It got too late to return for fireworks and I think the group is still in DCA anyways. We will make that a goal for tomorrow night.
It was a fun day, but the park WAS crowded. I havy sympathy for all of those playing MA tomorrow. |
Lovely day with friends. !!!!
Everyone's cell phones are with them so if you eant to find anyone, just keep calling or send an S&M Message. I love Mimis. |
Yeah, my fault, i never got your cell numbers. All that time they were useless ... and i forgot to bother for when they wouldn't be. oh well.
see you today at MA for a bit. |
For if you need it:
Rob's Cell = (707) 386-1484
Send me SMS as the voice qualityh is not really good and accents make things hard to understand. |

So, apparently the bill was $120 short last night.
|
!!!
I think maybe I forgot to toss a $ or two in for garlic bread, but I also didn't really take off the AP discount and threw enough in for tax & tip to have covered our meal and drinks w/out the discount. And I just did the math again to be sure I was right. But I'd be happy to chip in to make up the cost if someone got stuck with it. |
Holy crap! I had her pull mine off and run it through cause I only had plastic and was about to pass out from sheer exhaustion. All I had was the 3-course, no drinks. I hope she pulled it off of the main bill too.
|
It wasn't me.
|
Ohhhh those foreign devils!
|
I think our waitress screwed up somewhere with all the separate tabs and the "joke" mass tab.
I know we put in well enough to cover bill, not even factoring the discount. |
$120.00 is quite a discrepancy!
|
Wow, that s*cks. :(
I hope it gets sorted out. |
That's one expensive Manhattan...
|
Yeah, what? I don't think that's even possible.
Didn't every four persons have a separate check? I know our four-person check was well taken care of. Still was glad Kevy and others stuck around for the final accounting. But if each such check was separate, $120 would likely be more than the total of one of the checks. So are we saying there were multiple shortages on multiple checks? I'm very glad "our" check was paid in full there and then, and the only thing I kept throwing more and more token cash at was the really nice tip I wanted Esmeralda to have. Let's please get to the bottom of this. The Soup Kitchen is my favorite Resort eatery by far, and I hate to think their bending over gracefully backwards to let us take over the Queen's room was met with chicanery or unacceptable negligence on our part. W.T.F?? |
One thing that might have been overlooked is that I don't believe that the alcohol was subject to discount (although I may be wrong). I personally counted the credit card slips and cash and the grand total was only about $730 (the original un-discounted bill was $796 and change).
I looked at everything twice, the waitress three times and I got the manager involved. I believe that there was a multitude of issues which contributed. The bill should NOT have been split (for example, Susan and I ended up on different bills). I am not poor, but I really can't afford to be doing this. |
Good point on the booze not being discounted, but I don't think that wouldn't account for a $120 discrepancy in it's entirety. I know after we did the cash and cc on our bill, we had what equated to a 30% tip which should have accounted for an underage elsewhere. The way it was split was ridiculous and definitely caused issues.
Was there any chance someone forgot to pay for their meals in their entirety? Kevy if you were the one that ended up covering the shortage, we all need to cover you. I think there were over 20 people there, so at less than $10pp that should do it? Does that work for all? |
There were 24 peeps, $5/person would cover the diff.
|
I'll gladly put in $5 or $10 or $15 to cover this ... but I still want to know what happened.
I don't see anything wrong with a bill for 24 people being split into smaller and far more manageable segments. If Kevy and Susan ended up on two separate bills, that's a fault of the restaurant and nothing to do with the concept of splitting the check up into easier bits. I assume that incidence of double-billing is not the cause of this particular problem. But was that the only double billing, or might there have been more of that sort of thing? It's semi-confusing having 2 threads dealing with this subject, but I'm reiterating my request to find out if there was a shortage across several of the checks, or if there was one check that was entirely unpaid. And it seems to me if everyone's just throwing in what they think is their share of an $800 tab, to be figured by 24 people, it's a lot easier for shortages than if everyone has to contribute their portion of a $150 tab, and only has to figure it with 3 other people to arrive at the proper total with generous tip. But whatever. Keith suggested the separate checks and it worked very well for us. I could see clearly our bill was paid, and that the tip was not as hefty as I'd like ... so I was able to throw a little more money at it. I'm sorry if other groupings did not find that as convenient or were somehow negligent. |
We were on a seperate check, but I wouldn't mind flipping $5 or $10 to Kevy.
|
Quote:
I don't think separate checks were the problem, but that they didn't do it as they said they would, or in any logical way whatsoever. Many if not most couples were split on 2 checks. It was just a mess. Doesn't really matter what happened, for $5 a person, problem is solved and our good friend Kevy isn't f'd again. Done deal. Solid. BTW, I really like the Aussie method of bills. Tip and tax included in the price of the food. No calculating necessary. Nice and clean. |
Kevy, please set up a P.O. Box, and we will mail checks or cash or disney dollars or chits.
|
I wasn't even there and I'll help out, because Kevy/Susan shouldn't have to pick up the difference every time that the LoT group eats out!

Reading the Disney AP Site it seems Ralph Brennans has a maximum discount of $40 so that might be a contributing factor for someone assuming the normal 10%
|
Hmm, they took the normal 10% off our bill.
Big update, they charged Aud's debit card an additional $110!!! |
OMG...tell Audra to dispute the charge!
|
Updated the wrong thread. Aud called the Jazz and all should be taken care of by Wed.
|
Soooo.... with all the financial fiasco, should we eat elsewhere on Fri night?
|
Yes i agree too give Kevy something since he had to cover others flucked up stuff. CM and I were on our OWN bill paid by credit card. That's why i hate split checks to begin with. If it was one solid check we could easily check off what we had and put in our share plus tax and tip easily. Sure it takes more time and effort in the end but at least this wouldn't have happened. I do know people were bailing left and right early so who knows. I saw money just laying on the table not even in the proper folders with the bill etc.
This doesn't take rocket science to figure this out. |
Yeesh I am sorry Kevy... we'll gladly chip in for the discrepancy. We were the first ones to bail during the fireworks and left $85 cash for two entrees, one appetizer and 2 drinks. (Which would have been $63 plus tip and tax, bringing it under $85 with a 20% tip).
Just PM me with your address and I'll send you a check. BTW did you save the bills? |
Quote:
As a customer I like being able to increase or withold tip amounts based on service. |
Yes, absolutely. One of the reasons I generally tip better for good service at the Jazz Kitchen is they don't put an automatic gratuity on large parties.
I'm still in for the Kevy Bailout ... but more and more I find it hard to believe this isn't a Jazz Kitchen error. $120 short is simply not believeable. |
I don't think we will ever figure out what went wrong here. We don't have a copy of the combined bill and, by the time Kevy got to counting stuff up, the money was combined all tabs and not separated into groups of 4.
The bill should NEVER have been split the way it was. There is nothing wrong with doing a combined bill as long as one person does the accounting. Splitting the bill up after it was agreed that that wouldn't be done was the start of the mess. We need to do things differently in the future. |
We can work on that this upcoming Friday, hope it goes better!
|
We definitely have to do it differently in future with lesson learned.
But it was never "agreed" the bill wouldn't be split up. Who made that agreement? Since I was listening, I can tell you that Keith asked Esmeralda for a separate check for our end of the table, and instructed her to inquire of the diners what other separate checks might be requested. We did not make any "agreement" for the rest of the table, but it appears the waitress made arbitrary separate checks for every whatever # of people. I'm really sorry if that caused a problem. It worked beautifully for us. I have to point out that if the remaining 5 checks were combined in a pile with a single pile of money, that was the doing of our group and not the restaurant. It's inconceivable to me how we could have been that much short, and for that I suspect the restaurant made some serious errors - - but we'll never know. But in any event, I'm going to give Kevy ten bucks either the next time I see him or forwarded to him via whatever method he requests. If most people will do the same, the bailout will be more successful than those of the federal government. And Kevy is prohibited from staying to settle the bill for at least 6 months. ;) |

(Or maybe just to be Italian.) I agree that setting up something standard for bill-paying would be a great idea. This has happened too often. Maybe it's something as simple as always getting a single bill, electing the evening's "accountant" and not letting any party members leave without the accountant's sign-off. |

Since it shouldn't be discussed in this thread (IMO), I have created a separate thread to discuss the dinner bill fiasco.

Maybe I misread your earlier comment when I thought you were implying an agreement among those at the table. If you made an agreement to the restaurant's request, that's a different thing ... and, ya know, completely fine.
So, was that agreement kept by the restaurant or not? I still don't know, nor do I care, how many checks there were. Yes, it was up to each diner to determine whether they wanted a separate check or not. Sounds to me just as it should be. We wanted one. It allowed us to leave the restaurant before the Park closed with the secure knowledge that our tab was paid in full with a generous tip. Despite that, I'm still willing to participate in the Kevy Financial Bailout Plan of 2009. |
Quote:
I'm all for having one person be the accountant and everyone checks in with them before leaving, checking items off the bill as they go. I'm sorry we didn't stay but I was already dead to the world about a half hour before we left. |
Oh, I agree completely, CP. They messed up majorly. You cannot just randomly assign people to different checks, precisely because you may split up people likely to pay jointly, such as - d'uh - married couples.
|
Ok, aside from the bill fiasco, how was dinner?
|
We only got there in time for dessert, and possibly the funniest fireworks show ever.
|
Dinner was delicious, and the Bananas Foster were divine.
...and the Acappella soundtrack to the fireworks was better than the real thing !! :D |
Hello, Bear. Miss you and Stoat tons, dear.
