Mom freak out meltdown-

The doctors found a lump on Braden's lung. They want to do a cat scan....

Could be nothing- could be cancer.

I can't breathe thinking about it- it better be nothing.

oh God-:(

Deebs 05-27-2009 04:20 PM

What?!

Freak out warranted.

Sending good thoughts, from one mom to another, that the lump is nothing scary.

Strangler Lewis 05-27-2009 04:21 PM

If I get a vote, I vote "nothing."

Hope it turns out okay.

Prudence 05-27-2009 04:26 PM

I hope that it's a (benign) alien life form that provides enough news fodder for you guys to make a mint doing the talk show circuit.

Gemini Cricket 05-27-2009 04:30 PM

Fingers crossed that it is nothing.
Don't freak out just yet. It could be nada, right?

Hang in there.

Ghoulish Delight 05-27-2009 04:31 PM

Hoping for the best...

BarTopDancer 05-27-2009 04:33 PM

Hoping it's nothing!

Not Afraid 05-27-2009 04:48 PM

When's the procedure scheduled for? I hope it is nothing but I'm glad they found it and are taking action.

scaeagles 05-27-2009 05:01 PM

Parental worries are the worst. Here's hoping with you.

innerSpaceman 05-27-2009 05:14 PM

Ok, this is important to you, obviously. So don't grant yourself the luxury of worry right now. Maintain as positive thoughts as possible. Do it methodically, purposefully. Don't let yourself slip (too often). It can only help ... if not her, than you.

It can't hurt. Will do some good on some level, maybe much good on important levels.

Hugs.

katiesue 05-27-2009 06:17 PM

Think positive thoughts and stay calm until you know what's wrong. Also you freaking out isn't going to help him not worry. Not of couse that any of this is easy. I hope it turns out to be nothing.

~MS~ 05-27-2009 06:21 PM

Hang in there, breath in then out then repeat...I won't even try to tell you to not worry, BTDT have the doc bills to remind me often...but I will pray that they do the test and find out that it's a 'nothing' to worry about.

lashbear 05-27-2009 06:26 PM

LashPair vibes coming to you for a happy outcome.

Betty 05-27-2009 07:12 PM

Wishing you both strength and the best possible outcome. Please keep us posted!

Worry is not a luxury- it is a fairly instinctive response to this kind of news. Especially at first-

I am hoping it will turn out to be nothing-

-and Braden is my son- not a her.

But thanks for the effort-

Not sure yet- they were supposed to call back either this afternoon or tomorrow morning- so since I am still not sure I am hoping to hear soon tomorrow. Will call them myself if I don't hear something fairly early-

The way this was found is a little odd-Davis was horsing around and punched Braden in the ribs. But that was about 2 months ago and he still hurts. So I made an appointment to find out why.

They did xrays to check his ribs-no fractures-but when they examined the xray they saw the half inch lump on the bottom of his right lung. It could be nothing- it really could-but it does need to be checked. Another oddity is why it is causing pain-

-and if it turns out to be something more serious- I will thank Davis for socking him in the ribs.

Braden does know-he is handling it fairly well. Skittles (his girlfriend) had a meltdown like I did and Crispin (his best friend) is clearly concerned-

Will update when I know more-

innerSpaceman 05-27-2009 07:23 PM

oh, i didn't mean "luxury" to come off so cavalier. Worry is the absolute guaranteed human reaction. But since it can have bad effects (most especially if the worrier is the one with the potential health issue), what I meant by it is we don't have the luxury of normal human emotions.

When positive thinking can positively effect our health, or the health of a loved one ... I believe we should make a strident effort to banish normal fear and concentrate on positive thinking. That it takes an effort, especially at first, to combat the normal human reaction, is why I used the word "luxury." Sorry if that came out wrong.

Bornieo: Fully Loaded 05-27-2009 08:48 PM

Best thoughts Nephy!!!!

wolfy999 05-27-2009 09:11 PM

Wolfpack is hoping all is well, but remember freaking out won't help Braden any at all. Stay calm during the storm...it will pass.

CoasterMatt 05-27-2009 09:37 PM

Best wishes Nephythys

wendybeth 05-27-2009 10:21 PM

Just know that we're thinking of you and your boy. I won't tell you not to worry because I know that's impossible, but I hope you find out (and quickly!) that this is nothing serious. If it's any help, my nephew had a spot on his kidney that the docs were very concerned about- turns out it was a deep bruise from horsing around on playground equipment. Scared the holy living hell out of us, but the outcome was positive.

bewitched 05-27-2009 10:27 PM

Sending positive, benign thoughts your boy's way. Please take care of yourself too. *hugs*

Snowflake 05-27-2009 10:42 PM

More positive vibes coming your way, calmness and healing vibes to Braden. Hang in there, we're all with you.

Disneyphile 05-27-2009 11:49 PM

Hopefully just a little blood bubble or something from the punch.

Sending much good energy your way! Hang in there! And please let me know the results ASAP.

Motorboat Cruiser 05-28-2009 08:21 AM

So sorry to hear this, Neph. We will both be keeping you in our thoughts and hoping that this turns out to be nothing serious.

blueerica 05-28-2009 09:23 AM

I'll keep sending good thoughts your way...

SzczerbiakManiac 05-28-2009 09:27 AM

Sending virtual hugs and hand-holding to you.

DreadPirateRoberts 05-28-2009 10:04 AM

Thinking positive thoughts for you .

Nephythys 05-28-2009 10:36 AM

I appreciate this so much-it's like a virtual hug. I can always count on this community to rally to my support-and it means the world to me.

I still have no date set- they are supposed to call within the next couple hours-hopefully the date for the test will be soon.

Once you KNOW what you are dealing with you can actually deal with it- not knowing is awful.

Moonliner 05-28-2009 10:59 AM

I've been punching everyone I know full on in the chest today.

Seesch, the reaction some people have when you try to help them.....

I've always found humor to be the best medicine.

OK, so penicillin is the best medicine, or perhaps aspirin.

But it's tough to add those to a thread so I'll stick with humor for now...

RStar 05-28-2009 11:07 AM

A Dr once told me that most "tumors" or lumps are not concerous. It's common for the body to grow things in wierd ways. I don't know if that bit of information can be of any intrest to you or not.

I'll pray for you and him, and good wishes for a good outcome.

LSPoorEeyorick 05-28-2009 04:48 PM

Yes, for me, the waiting is generally the worst. So I will pray for your family's peace and strength during this stressful time of waiting, and for Braden's good health.

Nephythys 05-28-2009 08:30 PM

OK- scan done this afternoon-Dr will have the report tomorrow-hopefully will also have word tomorrow too.

mousepod 05-28-2009 08:43 PM

Our fingers our crossed for you.

~MS~ 05-28-2009 09:20 PM

Keeping you all in prayers here Nephy!

alphabassettgrrl 05-28-2009 10:55 PM

Hopefully it's nothing. Hold a thought of "clear, healthy lungs" in your mind- our thoughts affect the world.

If it does turn out to be something, it's so much better to catch it early. Easier to handle. My husband's coworker had a lump in his chest the size of a football, and he got treatment and is healthy now. I hope that makes you feel better.

Nephythys 06-02-2009 10:19 AM

Yippe- it's nothing.

In fact- it's not even there anymore. CT Scan was clear-they suggested chiro for the rib pain.

SzczerbiakManiac 06-02-2009 10:24 AM

Happy Dance!!

Strangler Lewis 06-02-2009 10:50 AM

Nothing is good.

Snowflake 06-02-2009 10:51 AM

Yay! This is great news! :D

alphabassettgrrl 06-02-2009 04:52 PM

That's fantastic news, Nephy!

flippyshark 06-02-2009 06:15 PM

Happy dances and whoots of joy!

wolfy999 06-02-2009 06:22 PM

Now Braden....worrying your Mom like that and nothing was wrong! WTG!

wendybeth 06-02-2009 06:54 PM

Awesome news.:)

I read somewhere that parenting is 93% joy, punctuated by 7% moments of abject terror. Now that I have a teen I would modify those numbers a bit, but you get the idea......

Braden, your portion of the 7% is all used up, okay?

lashbear 06-02-2009 07:03 PM

Yippee !!

WB- Davis alone has used ALL of his siblings plus more.

Heh-

scaeagles 06-03-2009 06:25 PM

I would hope in retrospect parenting will be 93% joy.....I'd probably break the numbers down slightly differently at present.

17.2% joy
13.9% worry
7.7% abject terror
14.8% frustration
12.9% bewilderment
33.5% haven't figured it out yet - nondescript

sleepyjeff 06-05-2009 02:08 PM

I love it when everything turns out good.....YAY!
