Scrooge does Disney - 7/18 through 7/21

Wherein Scrooge bends to gentle persuasion

After getting my ears chewed by Sac and Crystal (a not entirely unpleasant experience I will treasure forever), it has been made clear that I have committed the unpardonable sin of failing to author a thread detailing my upcoming DLR trip plans.

I thought a calendar entry was quite sufficient, but it seems I was wrong.

For all that didn't know, I will be arriving Saturday, July 18th, whereupon I will acquire a Premium Annual Passport <insert 3 in-your-face passport thrusts just for Lisa> before immersing myself in 4 days of theme park nirvana in your fine city. Why premium? Because I'm coming back in December... with friends!

Any and all interested in meeting up are invited to PM me for a cell number. I have no hard and fast plans other than to get my relax on. Rather do something offsite? Speak up!

Word on the street (and in the calendar) is one of LoT's luminaries will also be visiting during this same time period. She can start her own thread, dammit.

Interesting choice.

The day after Disneyland Birthday.

well, I hope to be back to the Park sometime that weekend, and would love to see you again.

wendybeth 07-01-2009 10:29 PM

Ehh, they're bored with me now, Scrooge. Hell, I'm bored with me. But you, on the other hand, are totally fresh meat.

Actually, I'm beyond thrilled to be finally meeting you in person! I'm gonna fire off a PM to you now, mister. See ya in a few weeks!

We're not going to go over that issue again are we?

The 17th was a special event and Monday the 18th was the first day for the public, so it's the true birthday. ;)

Yes, well... I hear you, Steve. I cringed when I made that connection a couple of weeks back. And then cringed again when I realized those are blackout dates for SoCal passholders.

Were I local, DL's BD would be foremost in my mind. But I live in a world far removed, and only get to visit yours when the conditions are right; after quarterly reports are done and presented.

Just know that I have no problem exiting the berm for the right reasons. You and many others here qualify as right reasons.

LSPoorEeyorick 07-02-2009 06:58 AM

Sam, my dad is town those exact dates, but alas, we'll only be at the park on the 17th.

Though I was tossing around in my head the idea of inviting LoTters to brunch on Sunday the 19th, at Inn of the Seventh Ray, in Topanga Canyon (inland of Malibu.) That'd be an LA road trip for you, but it's a wonderful place and very worth it.

Like a Jewish mother, I was.

See you in December, Sam.

Not Afraid 07-02-2009 12:39 PM

Well, I'll see if I can come up with some "right reason" options for Saturday.

wendybeth 07-12-2009 01:24 AM

Okay, so I'm reviving this thread, as I'm too tired to create a new one and really more excited about meeting Scrooge irl than pretty much anything else...

Plans? Scrooge is staying at the DLH, as are we, which (in my mind) opens up lots of potential for those who are AP impaired. We are so close to DTD that it seems to me that DTD meets are entirely feasible and in fact expected. Of course, if no one else can make it, we will gladly kidnap Scroogeboy for the duration. Stll, it would be ubercool to get a specific Scrooge meet going- don't you all agree?:D

LSPoorEeyorick 07-12-2009 08:06 AM

We're still unable to join in at the park after Scrooge arrives, but our invitation to brunch in Topanga still stands for anyone who's interested! :)

innerSpaceman 07-12-2009 09:08 AM

I would suggest that, as the 17th, a Friday, is unusually Disneyland-centric, many of us would like to spend more than our customary DTD-to-Disneyland ratio inside the Park itself for birthdayness.

And on the 18th, Saturday, a day likely more convenient to people lacking APs, and a day when the entire out-of-town contingent will finally be assempled at the Disneyland Hotel, we have a bigger Downtown Disney/Resort meet-up.

And then Sunday brunch in Topanga Canyon.

Sounds like a weekend to me!

K den (I didn't know if that was still in "tossing around" stage or "actual")

Casual dress? It better be, cuz that's all I'm bringing.

How are you at giving directions?

HEY WENDY... If you want to see Heidi and Tom, but for whatever reason don't want to pull the rest of your group out of the parks, you're more than welcome to ride with me.

wendybeth 07-12-2009 10:32 AM

Thanks, Scrooge! My sis would no doubt love to meet Heidi and Tom, so I'm guessing we're in for the Topanga meet as well. :)

Hey, wait a minute! I haven't ever met up with Heidi or Tom in real life! Yup, we're on!

LSPoorEeyorick 07-12-2009 10:35 AM

Aw, yay! I was hoping you'd come. (Wendy, too, but no worries if that's not possible.) We are heading to Inn of the Seventh Ray in Topanga (just inland of Malibu) and I can send you directions if you like.

Casual dress is plenty fine. The restaurant is beautiful but we see people there in jeans and shorts all the time.

What time works for people?

Scrooge McSam 07-12-2009 10:37 AM

They come highly recommended.

How long will it take us to get there?

oy vay my calender is swimming!

Not Afraid 07-12-2009 11:02 AM

Swimming. SWIMMING! Maybe we should have a pool party at the DLH on Saturday.

innerSpaceman 07-12-2009 12:03 PM

Wait, didn't you just shift the locale for Saturday to the Queen Mary in another thread?

We did. I did a quick concerence call with Sam and WB and that is now the plan. Forget what I said about swimming unless you want to swim in the gutters of Long Beach or in the waters behind the breakwater.

Not Afraid 07-12-2009 12:14 PM

For plans on the 18th, please see THIS THREAD

wendybeth 07-15-2009 11:49 PM

Well, seeings how I've mostly been using Scrooge's thread for my dispatches, I just wanted to warn ya'll that we should be at the DLR around 2:00ish tomorrow- if anyone needs to get ahold of me and doesn't have my cell, go ahead and hit up NA, KB or whoever and feel free to call! We'll probably be at DL or DCA initially, but any DTD meetups are very much welcome. Hope to see as many of you all as we can- I've missed all of you very much and am very excited to see you again!

(Now, I've got to try and get some sleep.....yeah, right.)

Scrooge- it was great talking to you and I can't wait to see you!!!!

Scrooge McSam 07-18-2009 02:02 AM

Lordy mercy! 3 AM comes early. I don't usually get to see it from this side ;)

Now that I finally have enough coffee in me to function, I'll be throwing a few more things in the bag and should be on the road in about an hour.

I should be hitting DLR by Noon to check in and hook up with Wendy and then on to Long Beach from there.

Can't wait to see you all!

Not Afraid 07-18-2009 10:44 AM

Sam should be landing at any second. His flight is on time!

And, seconds after I posted I got a text that he has landed in OC.
