July 17th

This Friday!

Are we having a meet?

If one hasn't been planned yet, may I propose Carnation Plaza at about 1pm, where there is lovely shade?

And perhaps a Hearthstone or Lounge55 meet in the evening?

We'll be driving down that afternoon and might possibly make it before closing, and we'll be at the MP birthday meet and mini-MA on Saturday. Unfortunately work obligations would not let us actually be there all day on Friday.

Kevy Baby 07-11-2009 05:01 PM

What's the big deal about July 17th? Is that when the Dragon FINALLY makes its debut?

Cut. Print. Quote.

Cadaverous Pallor 07-11-2009 06:23 PM

We're blocked, but if there's doings in DTD in the evening we'll gladly meet up.

wendybeth 07-11-2009 08:34 PM

Finally- one event I can say I'll actually be at!!! We'll be there- we're staying at the DLH for the duration of our trip, so a DTD meet would be cool as well.

alphabassettgrrl 07-11-2009 09:05 PM

Boo. Got to work. ::sigh::

keith - SuPeR K! 07-11-2009 09:20 PM

Cousin and I will be there!!!

Not Afraid 07-11-2009 10:21 PM

I'll be there at some point.

wendybeth 07-11-2009 10:51 PM

We just have a regular pool view room this time, but we can use the room for pit stops and occasional refreshments if needed......

wendybeth 07-11-2009 10:53 PM

Oh, and Scrooge is gonna be there later, right? I think he arrives the day after we do, and he's also at the DLH. (Yaayyyy!!!)

Scratch that- he's there the 18th. We shall definitely be having a meet with that boy, so maybe I should bring up his thread and start with the planning....

innerSpaceman 07-11-2009 11:45 PM

I think Scrooge is day after birthday, which means I'll head back.

I'll be at the Park around 3:00 on Friday, the 17th. Haven't missed a Disneyland Birthday since 1978, bitches!

Um, yes, that's since before most of you were born. Uh huh.

I could have driven you to the park that day.

I may be there for the fireworks, but 7:00 is about the best I can do. I still haven't seen them yet, the last two efforts fizzled, so we'll see how this one goes.

It's not DtD's birthday, that's in Feb. ;)

I was in college, but dateing my wife then. And yes, we went to DL at least once a month.....

LSPoorEeyorick 07-12-2009 10:37 AM

We're, of course, there all day. What would an evening DTD look like? What time?

innerSpaceman 07-12-2009 12:07 PM

This is all getting very confusing.

I can't speak for too many people, but a usual dinner in DTD wouldn't work for me on the 17th, unless it was earlyish. Fortunately (or not), the complete DragonFailure of Summer Failtastic means I won't be camping out on the Rivers of America ... but I've yet to see the new fireworks show, so I'll want to be in the Park for that

... and in general, to experience the unique magic that sets Disneyland Birthday apart, 9 years out of 10, you have to be IN Disneyland.

So ... in one thread there's talk of a more DTD-DLH-centric day on Saturday, the 18th ... but in another thread, the same people are discussing a Queen Mary / Casa de Cone-Meinke Cocktail Party for Saturday the 18th.

Not Afraid 07-12-2009 12:10 PM

The Queen Mary/Cocktail Party has ow usurped a day in DL on the 18th. Now, if you want to go to DL on the 18th there's no reason why you can't and just go to the cocktail party in the evening. We are all free to do what we want. But, out of town guests get to make the plans, there there you have it.

Morrigoon 07-12-2009 12:10 PM

I wasn't really suggesting a dinner meet. On a crowded day like the 17th, a beverage meet is far more practical/relaxing/possible.

wendybeth 07-12-2009 12:14 PM

Keep in mind that Scrooge in going to be there until the 20th, and we will be leaving the 21st. DTD meets and swim sessions are still very much workable!

innerSpaceman 07-12-2009 12:22 PM

Well, who are we talking about when we refer to the AP-challenged?

I know there's Ghoulish Delight and Cadaverous Pallor. Who else? I'm guessing a Long Beach cocktail party and/or Queen Mary meet would work just as well for anyone who can't get into the Park at the current time.

CoasterMatt 07-12-2009 12:54 PM

Damn... thanks to the wonderfulness of work, I won't be anywhere near Disneyland on the 17th of July for the first time in a LONG time. Back when they used to do cool stuff for it.

Come again? Swim sessions? As in at the hotel pool?

Prudence 07-12-2009 01:05 PM

We'll be heading down after I get off work.

Yes. I'll be on the sidelines drinking though. I have priorities, not to mention the whitest bod this side of Scandanavia.

Morrigoon 07-12-2009 01:16 PM

Which hotel are you at again?

wendybeth 07-12-2009 01:22 PM

At the DLH, as is Scrooge.

LSPoorEeyorick 07-12-2009 01:36 PM

We don't have any solid plans for Friday except our lunch reservations. We're mostly going to be accomodating dad, but we're down to meet up with people who are around in the afternoon or evening or however it happens. We're playing it flexible for his trip.

Have you met my wife? You may have some competition on that.

innerSpaceman 07-12-2009 05:35 PM

Hmmm, the So-called Swank Bar IS in the Disneyland Hotel. I smell Happy Hour already!

keith - SuPeR K! 07-13-2009 12:53 AM

I love Swank Bar!

Morrigoon 07-13-2009 01:00 AM

Swank bar is awesome

wolfy999 07-13-2009 06:16 AM

How about Swank Bar at around 7PM then?

dlrp_bopazot 07-13-2009 06:49 AM

snif snif i wish i could be there with you guys . but 2 more months yay

Cadaverous Pallor 07-13-2009 07:51 AM

We don't want to be the reason others ditch Fantasmic or the Fireworks, so perhaps we'll just see everyone at the LB cocktail party....

Stan4dSteph 07-13-2009 08:12 AM

I had hoped to be there, but things didn't work out. Maybe next year for the 55th.

Chernabog 07-13-2009 08:46 AM

I will be there there with Beej in tow. (Sorry I didn't get back to you yesterday Goonie, my phone is out of juice and my charger is at the office!)

innerSpaceman 07-13-2009 09:45 AM

Well, there WILL be a Happy Hour on the 17th, and that means somewhere in DTD. I love the Swank Bar, so that's my leading candidate. Just have to be back in the Park in time for fireworks.

Might try walk-up Haunted Mansion area viewing of Fantasmic late show, last minute to see if Dragon will there by Disneyland Birthday ... or if it's officially declared Summer Failtastic. But no camping out at all, or even waiting more than 5 minutes.

So, by all means please join us for Diz Birthday Happy Hour if you don't have an AP.

Ahem, not everyone will be at the Casa C-M Cocktail Party. Let me be as frank as some people inadvertently were in a thread they assumed I could not access: I plain and simple don't feel welcome at the Cone-Meinke household, and I'm not sure I'll have the chutspah to attend a party there.

Chernabog 07-13-2009 12:17 PM

*sigh*

Well we are moving the next morning, so probably won't stay late enough to witness the drama unfold. Will someone please youtube it? ;)

JWBear 07-13-2009 12:23 PM

Sounds like there has already been drama.

Disneyphile 07-13-2009 12:26 PM

We'll be there all day, but having a reunion with a friend I haven't seen in 16 years. So, that will have priority, but if time allows, we'd be up for meeting later that evening for drinks, etc. :)

Not Afraid 07-13-2009 12:31 PM

Think of it as a commercial for an upcoming show. ;)

Everyone is welcome at our house. That has always been the case with a very few exceptions (and even then, as long as the exceptions behave exceptionally well, I have no issue).

Creating drama over a non-issue is simply boring.

Swank Bar at 7 sounds like a plan. Then, if people want to depart to go see pyro or Fantasmic, they may do so, and if people don't, they may stick around.

Chernabog 07-13-2009 12:43 PM

I guess nobody will know if Murphy is working, eh?

Morrigoon 07-13-2009 12:56 PM

Well he's not working yet, so I'm not holding my breath

Sohrshah 07-13-2009 01:05 PM

If there are drinks or anything going on outside of the park itself, L and I are up for joining in!

innerSpaceman 07-13-2009 02:10 PM

Sounds like we're brewing plans for a Disneyland Birthday Drink-Up at the Swank Bar at 7pm on July 17, Disneyland's 54th Birthday.

The Swank Bar is not its real name (does it have one?) ... but it's inside the Disneyland Hotel, adjacent to the Goofy's Kitchen entrance.

Morrigoon 07-13-2009 02:15 PM

I believe the official name is Lounge55. But for those who are still confused, it's the former Brass Bar, in the DLH next to Goofy's Kitchen. When you see it, you'll know ;)

innerSpaceman 07-16-2009 08:49 PM

Tomorrow!

So, um, call around if you arrive earlier. Otherwise, 7pm at the Swank Bar. Back in the Park around 8 or 8:30. Magical evening. Fireworks. Fun.

Morrigoon 07-16-2009 10:44 PM

Just to rehash:

There are two meets.

There's a LashBear Cocktail party?? I've been snubbed !! Nobody invited me. :( Am I in town? Who am I? Where am I?

Sorry. I have to wash my hair that day. :D

And cos I'm miles away, any dramas should be PM'd to me for my vicarious viewing pleasure.

Bitterness grows with the square of the distance. So you all have no claim to true bitterness.

(And you don't count LB. I don't have a good reason for that, but you don't so go away.... )

LSPoorEeyorick 07-17-2009 07:35 AM

We are just pulling up to the park now. We are going to do an attraction push early in the day, and we have lunch reservations, so we won't be there promptly around 1. But we will aim to catch up after!

wolfy999 07-17-2009 07:36 AM

I hope so, I want to meet your Dad.

innerSpaceman 07-17-2009 08:20 AM

I won't be in the Park till 2-ish. Where did this 1 thing come from? Is that a mice-chatter meet?

wolfy999 07-17-2009 08:29 AM

Mice chat is at Noon as usual. 1PM was Morrigoon's plan.

Not Afraid 07-17-2009 09:50 AM

We'll be there around 4-5 depending on pet sitter confirmation.

BarTopDancer 07-17-2009 09:59 AM

1PM was Morri's suggestion in the original thread.

Me, Keith and his cousin will be there at some point. I think we're aiming for 1.

Prudence 07-17-2009 10:27 AM

We have to wait for the tech to come replace the motherboard in my laptop again (twice in 2 days - my laptop is cursed), but will be heading out soon after. I feel almost human! Just don't make me laugh or I start coughing....
