Our Temporary Foster, Hannah (or, as Chris prefers to call her, Kimchi)

This is my temporary foster, Hannah. (Who Chris insists in calling Kimchi.)

She flew in from South Korea today with another pug and a terrier mix. They all arrived in excellent shape after flying in a temperature-controlled cargo area of Asiana Air. The other two dogs went to their forever homes. Hannah is going to stay with me for a while until she find her forever home and while she recuperates from her LP Surgery. She is probably 3 years old and has had at least one litter of puppies (probably more). I suspect she was a puppy mill dog that raised dogs for meat.

The first thing she did (after going potty - ahhhhhhhh) was roll around in the ivy. FREEDOM!

We then got in the car and drove to the vet for a check-up.

She has a slight ear infection and I need to do some PT on her LP leg to help her heal better. Otherwise, she's in decent shape - all 14 pounds of her. Her fur is much more coarse than Thurston's and she is a bit on the thin side but a couple of weeks of Auntie Lisa's Raw Food Extravaganza should fix that!

The one thing I did notice about her tonight is that she doesn't seem to have a voice. She both makes barking and howling motions but very little sound comes out. I'm not sure what's going on there and I fear she has had her bark removed. (Although, instead of barking noises she was making "barking spider" noises which made me laugh so hard I almost choked).

The cats are all completely fine with her (weird) and Thurston thinks her butt smells good.

Oh, and Chris has been trying to learn Korean dog commands from the internet.:D

flippyshark 07-28-2009 09:48 PM

I bet her first day here was already the best day of her life - what a sweetie

€uroMeinke 07-28-2009 09:53 PM

and tasty too!

Not Afraid 07-28-2009 10:04 PM

Chris, upon being email a pic of her at the airport, replied - "She's adorable! And tiny too - appetizer sized."

I just found out that she was de-barked in Korea.:(

wendybeth 07-28-2009 10:19 PM

What a cruel thing to do to an animal, but I'm so glad she's with you guys right now!!!! I hope she gets a wonderful family- she deserves it.

BarTopDancer 07-28-2009 10:41 PM

She's adorable!

Chernabog 07-28-2009 11:21 PM

She is soooooo cute!!!!!

Morrigoon 07-29-2009 01:14 AM

Truly Scrumptious!

(In the adorable, worthy-of-Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang-reference way, not the Korean, edible kind of way)

lashbear 07-29-2009 07:14 AM

She's gorgeous - lucky family that gets her, I say.

Soooo, when she barks, does it sound like Heen: Madame Suliman's cute doggy henchman in Howl's Moving Castle? (I can't type what it sounds like, but here's a pic of Heen, which is basically the sound he makes, as well as his name.)

Not Afraid 07-29-2009 07:16 AM

Her bark and howl is mostly motions. There is really no sound except some snorting (and farting).

She had me awake by 6. Chris says she has jet lag. I'm going to have jet lag!

It is good work you do, Lisa and Chris.

Betty 07-29-2009 07:55 AM

Squeee! She is soooo cute! I would so love to have another little doggie but I'm afraid that Rocky wouldn't go for it. He seems to hate every other dog he sees.

blueerica 07-29-2009 08:16 AM

SO CUTE!!!

Cadaverous Pallor 07-29-2009 08:30 AM

Cute girl! She's lucky to have you.

katiesue 07-29-2009 09:14 AM

So cute and lucky to have found a wonderful foster family.

JWBear 07-29-2009 09:35 AM

Damn our landlord! We'd take her in a second!

awwww... she looks a little sad.

alphabassettgrrl 07-29-2009 08:32 PM

She's cute! And so lucky that she is fostered in such grand style and I hope she finds her forever home soon!

Barking spider? I can't even imagine what that might sound like.

"Barking spider" is a term for fart. As in, no, that wasn't me, this place is full of barking spiders. :)

lashbear 07-29-2009 09:22 PM

Lucky for all of us I can't find any video of the sound of barking spiders.

alphabassettgrrl 07-29-2009 09:39 PM

Ok, now I'm giggling. :)

Not Afraid 07-29-2009 09:44 PM

I believe "barking spider" is a Cricketism.

BarTopDancer 07-29-2009 09:49 PM

Please put a BTD warning for all actual spiders. PLEASE. Pretty please.

kthxbai

Oh and I love the name Kimchi.

I think you're right in that GC brought it to us, but it's in the Urban Dictionary.

Ghoulish Delight 07-30-2009 08:41 AM

I'd heard the term long before I met GC.

OMG, she's so pretty and cute! If only, if only, I would! As said by JW damned landlord.

Not Afraid 07-30-2009 09:50 AM

Her potential forever Mommy is going to met her on Monday. Hopefully she will fall in love with her.

I hope she does, my God she's adorable! I've fallen in love with the photos, IRL she has to be a killer.

Disneyphile 07-30-2009 10:32 AM

Considering she's debarked, we could have snuck her at our place, but there's no way we could take her outside regularly. Otherwise, she'd have already been taken. She is just so adorable!

~MS~ 07-30-2009 11:30 AM

OH MAN, I'm in love...too bad I already had the one pet limit here :(

Not Afraid 07-31-2009 11:09 AM

These two! Kimchi is intent on being dominate and poor Thurston is so patient. But, they've been playing like little banshees. I got a few good pics out of the 41 I took. Action shots are not my forte.

MOM! What have you done to me?

Double head tilt.

Full on wrestling.

Betty 07-31-2009 11:11 AM

Oh my they are cute!

alphabassettgrrl 07-31-2009 04:08 PM

They're so cute together! I love the double head-tilt. I had a female basset hound that used to mount my male when they played.

Snowflake 07-31-2009 04:14 PM

So has Thurston shared his martini olive? My God, they're both cute, the double tilt photo is teh kyootness!

Cadaverous Pallor 07-31-2009 04:26 PM

Thurston is still the cutest pug ever ;)

~MS~ 07-31-2009 05:50 PM

Adorable pics, but I agree...Thurson is the cuter pug!

lashbear 07-31-2009 06:19 PM

Hehehehe Double Head Tilt !!

Is there a higher res version for those wanting wallpaper?

Morrigoon 07-31-2009 09:23 PM

Females do tend to want to dominate, don't they?

alphabassettgrrl 08-02-2009 07:47 AM

More than "want" - they do dominate! :)
