Disney to purchase Marvel
Will Spiderman be showing up at Disneyland?

Wow. This just doesn't feel right. It's okay but I'd prefer the two universes to not be aligned with each other. It feels weird.
|
Interesting. I'm sure Marvel's deal with Universal in FL will continue (Spiderman the Ride etc) and the idea of Disney getting some money from a huge competitor seems complicated.
|
I think we have some fantastic marketing and attraction modification opportunities.
Spiderman could be seen in the Haunted Mansion adding spiderwebs. We could have Soarin' over California with Ironman as the guide. The Fantastic 4 could team up with the Incredibles for a Pixar sequel. X-men could help Mickey defeat the new dragon in Fantasmic. The possibilities are endless. |
...then Disney could build "Spiderman: The Other Ride".

I think it's exciting. Looking forward to the first Marvel/Pixar flick.

Why does it feel like they're doing this just to kill the Marvel aspect of Islands of Adventure?

Disney owns ABC and ESPN. How come there's no Sports Center Ride? No costumed characters from Desperate Housewives or The Bachelor roaming the park? Why can't I stand in line to get my picture taken with a fake Howard Cosell?

And don't forget Superstar Lame-o, chock full of ABC haz-beens.
|
And I must say the couple of times that I ate at the ESPN Zone the food was pretty good.

I stand corrected. I might go to Disneyland more often if I thought I could get a hug from Nelson Burton, Jr.

soap operas) and ESPN The Weekend at Walt Disney Studios. And unlike Indiana Jones and Star Tours, Disney is just another licensee not an outright owner like they'll be. While I doubt Disney will outright try to pull the Marvel elements from other theme parks, they certainly aren't hugely incetivized to compromise on any future deals. If nothing else, it is job security for a lot of lawyers. |
Donald Duck finally gets to see his long lost cousin Howard the Duck.
And Pixar making Marvel movies. Imagine Brad Bird directing a Fantastic Four movie. We know he can do it. Of course, since he has done something like it already, will he want too. If this gets X-men and Fantastic Four away from Fox it is good thing. |

With all the Disney characters who don't get recognized or used by Disney today, it makes you wonder if they will ever be seen again.
|
Ych, I hate Donald Ducking.
That is, shirt with no pants. Feels weird to me. Pants with no shirt feels great. No pants, No shirt, No shoes feels great, even if it means No Service. But Donald Ducking. Blech. IMHO. |

Islands of Adventure isn't the only park with Marvel characters - The Amazing Adventures of Spiderman is also at Universal Osaka, and will soon be at Universal Singapore.

I think if the DC/ Warner Bros. thing has worked for a few decades, I see no problem with Disney/ Marvel. I think the big issue is will Disney put it's people at Marvel or be like WB and be hands off...
I knew something like this should/ would happen. Although I thought it would've been Fox but I don't think Marvel could have sustained it's film/ publishing plans for much longer without something like this. |
Conan had some good ideas last night.

my first thoughs was for Universal's Islands Of Adventure Theme Park .
Then i'm still surprised that disney signed that deal with a Marvel Comics . For the WDC this is a great idea as they won't have to fire Marvel Employees like they did for Pixar . Also an idea came out from my mind that Disney also did that for their future projects . A Mavel Comics Theme Park created and all designed by WDI would be Awesome . May be an idea for DLP's Third Park or WDW's 5th gate . |
Saw this on Pixar Artist Lou Romano's blog:

So, turns out that Disney President Bob Iger's late great-uncle (his grandfather's brother) was illustrator-cartoonist Jerry Iger, who partnered with illustrator-cartoonist Will Eisner back in the 30's to create ... wait for it ... the comic-book packager Eisner & Iger Studios. Their first hire was Jack Kirby, who - with Stan Lee - went on to co-create many of Marvel's best known characters.
Stranger than Fiction, folks, stranger.than.fiction. |
Yeah, I posted something about that when Eisner died a few years ago.
Kinda funny huh? |
