See Princess and the Frog at Walt Disney Studios

I don't think this has been brought up here before, but Disney announced they were doing a limited release of Princess and the Frog in NY and LA - not at El Cap, but on the Disney Studio lot.

http://disney.go.com/disneypictures/...ickets/la.html

It seems like this might be a fun Disney-themed swanking.

It runs from Thanksgiving week through December 13. Since we're in Italy and France for Thanksgiving, we won't be able to go until the weekend, Dec 4/5/6 or 11/12/13.

Anybody interested in joining us? We should probably grab tickets quickly - they're limited.

wolfy999 09-10-2009 08:23 AM

Pick a date and I'll request the day off now and buy the tickets for the Wolfpack along with you!

Keep in mind that GC, Sac & Scrooge will be in town on the weekend of the 12 & 13th of Dec.

Just was reminded that we will be heading to the Disney Museum the weekend of the 5 & 6th.....

innerSpaceman 09-10-2009 10:02 AM

Um, Sac posted that the weekend is the 5th and 6th, not the 12th and 13th.

wolfy999 09-10-2009 10:10 AM

oops...me bad.

~MS~ 09-10-2009 11:27 AM

At 50 bucks a pop this better be an amazing experience.

Wow. Is Princess Tiana is giving everyone handjobs during the film?

Gemini Cricket 09-10-2009 11:47 AM

Tiana's dad kinda looks like Obama:

LSPoorEeyorick 09-10-2009 11:54 AM

The $50/ticket comes with a bunch of souvenirs. The $30/ticket isn't too much more expensive than the El Cap, with the added bonus of getting you into the studio if you haven't been before.

~MS~ 09-10-2009 11:55 AM

For the dates we could go all the less expensive seats were already gone.

Edited to add, ok I'm a goober, I didn't see the little box at the side bottom with general admission, I was just rolling the cursor over the right and left boxes ....winner of todays duh ploma here!

LSPoorEeyorick 09-10-2009 11:56 AM

Their gen admission tickets on the site are very confusing. They actually are available, you have to click on the link, not on the green or yellow seating areas. They're being somewhat tricky about it.

Gemini Cricket 09-10-2009 11:57 AM

I'd be willing to go. Haven't been on that lot yet. Would be neat to see.
:)

Prudence 09-10-2009 12:16 PM

I'd consider going. Need to get out of the house more.

~MS~ 09-10-2009 01:23 PM

Now that I found the 30 dollar tickets, I am seriously considering it.

flippyshark 09-10-2009 01:59 PM

I'm told that those who went to the presentation by Bob Iger at D26 today got to see 30 minutes of this. (The first 30?)

innerSpaceman 09-10-2009 02:46 PM

Well, I'm not at all excited to see this movie. Certainly pricing it at $50 is not inspiring me to run right out.

Of course, the lure is the Disney Studio. And I guess that's the key. The movie can't stand on its own, and is likely getting tepid anticipation results.

I'm gonna give it a pass. I've been on the lot.

LSPoorEeyorick 09-10-2009 02:49 PM

Again, $30 tickets are available. But if you're not feeling it, you're not feeling it! All's well. I'm still excited to see the film.

Prudence 09-10-2009 04:21 PM

The film's villain reminds me of Baron Samedi. This disturbs me for some reason, and I'm not that excited about the film because it looks, from this perspective, like a "we're using the approved formula so it should be great!!!" sort of straight-to-DVD feature. But, I could be wrong. And, I've never been to the Disney Studio, so that's appealing.

~MS~ 09-10-2009 04:55 PM

It really is the studio appeal that has me considering the $30.00 price point, the added goodies and 'special rows' weren't tempting me at $50.00 but I've done the El Cap at about 20 so for an additional 10 I get all the princess's....scrap book heaven, and the movie and a peek behind the curtain...I'm leaning more and more in that direction.

lashbear 09-10-2009 05:13 PM

Do it ! You know you want to... ;)

Disneyphile 09-16-2009 02:29 PM

Here's a link to discounted tickets for 11/25 and 11/26 (Thanksgiving) for just $21, and it still includes the Studio tour.

We're thinking about going on the 26th. Anyone else interested?

wolfy999 09-16-2009 02:36 PM

I work that entire weekend, or the Wolfpack would be very interested....alas Disney does not allow for fun during that particular weekend!

Morrigoon 09-16-2009 03:04 PM

Sounds like fun, but I'm sure they'd be sold out before I had the $ to do it.

Disneyphile 09-16-2009 03:11 PM

We just got tickets for the 7pm show on Thanksgiving.

Chernabog 09-16-2009 03:12 PM

I'd see it for $21 on the 25th, which is a Wednesday, at 4:00pm. I mean, it's Thanksgiving weekend and I can totally ditch work early.

Edit: Awww wish I could see it with u DP but I need to do TWO thanksgivings, I think.... maybe 7pm is possible though, and a good excuse to leave thanksgiving early!!! I'll keep u posted.

The 25th wouldn't work for us, since Ken will be working.

Anyway, the tour is after the screening, so you wouldn't need to show up until after 6:30. Stuff some turkey in a doggy bag and join us. ;)

Very cool - have fun! We'll be going when we get back, one of the December weekends.

Disneyphile 11-27-2009 12:51 PM

Last night was AWESOME.

Studio-wise, nighttime is a bit different than the day offerings, and well worth it.

Photos are allowed everywhere, except inside the theater.

Anyway, I'll recap more when I post photos, but it was well worth it and a lot of fun. :)

wolfy999 11-27-2009 03:38 PM

Looking forward to seeing the pics!

RStar 11-30-2009 12:39 AM

Me too! I would have loved to go, but it's just not in the cards....
