Confess!

bewitched 09-23-2009 08:33 AM

Um, I am way too old and tasteful to love the Britney Spears song "Gimme More" but I do.

Next!

Cadaverous Pallor 09-23-2009 08:37 AM

Weird timing, Tref. I had a dream last night that I got into some sort of Jesus reenactment missionary thing....and I kept rationalizing to myself that this was "just for fun".

My dad even showed up in the dream to shoot me the stink eye. Classic.

I confess, I had a dream about Jesus! And Weird Al Yanchovic was somehow involved!

I see. Anything else?

katiesue 09-23-2009 08:53 AM

I've tried to listen to Dave Matthews but it just sounds like a bad Hootie and the Blowfish cover band to me. (sorry GC)

That sounds like deflection, my dear.

No kidding - and you must never watch Spy Kids 2 or 3 or whatever that he was in again - because then it's just creepy. But I'm so right there with you.

Deebs 09-23-2009 10:25 AM

Taylor Lautner was Sharkboy in The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl. Creepy and confession-worthy.

bewitched 09-23-2009 10:29 AM

This has nothing really to do with confessions but damn...

LSPoorEeyorick 09-23-2009 10:45 AM

I confess that photos of shirtless men don't do much for me, especially when they're muscley. I confess that the amount of shirtlessness in the Twilight trailer is laughing matter for me, not a turn-on.

Everything? OK! I'll talk! In third grade, I cheated on my history exam. In fourth grade, I stole my uncle Max's toupee and I glued it on my face when I was Moses in my Hebrew School play. In fifth grade, I knocked my sister Edie down the stairs and I blamed it on the dog... When my mom sent me to the summer camp for fat kids and then they served lunch I got nuts and I pigged out and they kicked me out... But the worst thing I ever done - I mixed a pot of fake puke at home and then I went to this movie theater, hid the puke in my jacket, climbed up to the balcony and then, t-t-then, I made a noise like this: hua-hua-hua-huaaaaaaa - and then I dumped it over the side, all over the people in the audience. And then, this was horrible, all the people started getting sick and throwing up all over each other. I never felt so bad in my entire life.

A Place in the Sun, who is more gorgeous, Monty Clift or Liz Taylor?

Monty Clift. At no stage in her life does Liz Taylor do much for me, she never moves above "ok, she's cute, I guess" on my scale.

I confess I knew exactly what this quote was from once I got to the toupee part. VAM.

I confess that while I still work pretty hard it's definitely not the commitment I had before...and that even though I do come through for everyone I have grown a distaste for spending my hours here, away from my home and all the things I need to do there.

Apparently, I can only be enthused about one thing at a time.

I confess that I waddle a little more around people to show off the belly. I didn't realize I was doing it until I caught myself shifting my stride as someone suddenly walked past.

Oh, and I agree with LSPE - shirtless muscley men, meh.

I find it hard to watch all the way through now but still very much enjoy a few scenes in it.

Gemini Cricket 09-23-2009 07:10 PM

I know this isn't the movie thread but it always bothered me that the Fratellis were going to make the Goonies walk the plank at the end. I mean, big deal because they all jump into the water anyway. I know about the giant octopus cut from the film but still... The Goonies came out when I was at an age when I thought Spielberg could do no wrong. It has sentimental value, I guess. But like E.T. and some of his other films I have no real desire to see them again and again any more.

They solved that by tying up the hands of the girl on the plank, and there's an inserted line where the girl says "my hands are tied, I can't swim".

Seemed solved to me as a child watching it.

I confess, I don't give a crap if my childhoood loves don't seem that great now, I still love them and screw everyone else. (Goonies is still great btw :p )

I confess I have never seen Goonies

Pirate Bill 09-24-2009 08:45 AM

I took the family to Astoria a couple months ago to see some of the famous Goonie locations. The Goonie house was undergoing some roof repair. It looked like it had had a recent fire. Pretty bad too. Looked like over 50% of the roof was being rebuilt. It's sad to think that the house could have been lost completely if that fire got any worse.

I confess, I still haven't uploaded the pictures.

Alex 09-24-2009 08:48 AM

Did you follow up with the Kindergarten Cop tour? Then the Ring 2 tour?

Pirate Bill 09-24-2009 11:18 AM

Unfortunately we forgot to do the Kindergarten Cop tour. We had just finished a 3-day camping trip at Fort Stevens. Our final day we went to see the Peter Iredale shipwreck, then walked all over Fort Stevens. I wanted to make a quick trip to Astoria before going back home but by then my wife wasn't into the whole driving around everywhere thing and just wanted to go home. So in our rush it completely skipped my mind.

I didn't even know about the Ring 2 sites. My kids wouldn't have gotten it anyway.

We did go to the Astoria Column though. Awesome view.

innerSpaceman 09-24-2009 11:20 AM

I confess I didn't look up any of the Goonies sights when I was in Astoria ... but of course I was kinda tickled to be in Goonies town.

I confess that I wish all clocks were perfectly on time because a minute here and minute there actually matter to me. At work we have many clocks and they're all different. Sometimes when I'm waiting to go on break and it takes an extra two minutes for someone to relieve me, it annoys the sht out of me.

I further confess that sometimes I'm late relieving people on desk. I don't know why I can't reconcile these two things...

Anyway - all clocks should be atomic clocks. :p

"Full House" is one of those shows that was on for years that I probably watched about nine seconds of total, so I don't get it either. However, by "trolley," I'm guessing you mean cable car since that's where more San Francisco "moments" typically occur.

My friends 9 y/o daughter was telling me all about this show she started watching on Nick at Night... about this kid who moved from PA to Bel Air to live with his Uncle and dorky cousin. She wanted to know if I watched it too.

I was slightly appalled no one told her that the show had been on already, about 15 years ago. I was slightly more appalled that the fashion in the show is relevant enough that she wasn't confused about that too.

I think a 9 year old can be smart enough to know a show is old and still enjoy it and ask if anyone else watches the reruns. I know I watched a lot of Nick at Nite as a kid, including seriously old TV, and I dug it.

I confess that even though I have no musical talent, have no technical musical knowledge, have no ear for music subtleties, and am darn near tone dead, that doesn't stop me from being very music-snobbish in my tastes and judgments of music I don't like. I know crap when I hear it, damnit!

€uroMeinke 09-27-2009 12:17 PM

I confess I hope Roman Polanski beats the extradition motion - rather have him making movies than sitting in a jail cell/court room

Alex 09-27-2009 12:50 PM

I hope he doesn't.

1. He should face the music. Regardless of time past, the current feelings of the victim, etc., it is important to remember that he drugged and had sex with a 13-year-old girl. Forced retirement to France is not much of a price to pay.

2. At this point his punishment isn't likely to be that significant (especially with the victim apparently on his side) so if he'd just get it out of the way he could go back to making movies freely.

3. He's only made one particularly good movie in the last 35 years so I confess I don't much care whether he continues making movies or not. If he'd just faced the extra couple of months in jail 30 years ago, regardless of whether the judge was being fair or not, he'd have been making movies unfettered teh whole time and may very well have received a presidential pardon if the victim had still turned out on his side (her comments on why she doesn't want him pursued don't seem to be so much out of forgiveness but rather she just hates having to deal with it every time Polanski returns to the spotlight).

Alex 09-27-2009 12:55 PM
