So, what are your costume plans this season?

I found this, and I dare someone to actually wear it. :evil:

Not right now. Deer season started yesterday.

I did not realize that!

I just kept imagining someone coming after said person with a bat!!

I found some cool stuff at the L.A. Opera Co. parking lot sale.

It really is the type of costume that would cause that. LOL!!! Someone should totally put that in a film. :D

No, that's just the inspiration for this years outfit, she's from the show NCIS.

ETA: Just looked at her IMDb page. I had no idea she's 40. Nothing wrong with that, I just never would have guessed it.

And wtf is an NCIS person doing with that look? Looks laughable to me. I guess I don't watch those shows for a reason...

13, She's the "energizer bunny of forensic science".

It's a stupid silly show. But fun in a brainless way. Good inter-character dialog.

But she's a civilian employee, which most of the people there are (and this is true in real life since sometimes in the '90s when it was made an independent civilian agency).

And yes, it is recognized in the show that she is dressed oddly. But the conceit (and it is TV not reality) is that she is such an accomplished forensic scientist that she can dress however she wants (plus she's never out in the field, just in her lab).

Yeah, "silly, stupid, brainless" would be the highest praise I could give that link. :p It was hard for me to watch the entire clip.

It's only when these shows get completely out of the realm of reality and become fairy tales, spoofs or sci-fi (ie LOST, Scrubs) that I can enjoy them.

It's weird. I don't enjoy mystery novels. I don't particular enjoy mystery movies.

But my brain apparently considers TV the perfect medium for mystery procedurals. But Monk is still really stupid.

I'm attempting to make a corset. That's all I care to share at the moment.

I'll be a "scientist" in the Dharma Initiative.

I could have simply spent the money on an official Dharma jumpsuit, but I didn't want to take the easy way out. I tried to find a local uniform store that sold similar jumpsuits but was unsuccessful. I also tried finding inexpensive jumpsuits online but was unsuccessful there too. But I did find a pattern, so I bought the material and set to work.

I do have some sewing skills and it was an easy pattern to follow, so I wasn't intimidated by the project. I got the patch from SciFi Geeks and borrowed an embroidery machine to embroider my name and occupation on the pocket. It took a few days, but I'm all done and it looks perfect. :D

The Halloween costume reveal for the Today Show this year was pretty lame. They were all wearing Star Wars costumes but the whole costume parade was blah.

I want to see what she looks like from 30 feet away - would the dots actually become colors from a distance?

I didn't see a Halloween general thread, so I figured that I could just post it in here. A co-worker... a closet Disney guy... did his house to mirror much of The Haunted Mansion. It's too. frickin. awesome.

I hope to get some pics to you guys that show what's under the hood of his fabulous abode.

Last time I dressed up on Halloween was my senior year in HS. I went as a flasher in a trenchcoat and thong. Don't think that'd be appropriate now.

Our costumes for this year just never got finished, due to crazy schedule, so it looks like we'll be recycling from other events. However, our first picks seem to be in hiding, so we might be totally lame and recycle a costume from another Halloween and simply add something to it.

But, there's just been too much going on, and this week's especially been hell, so it'll be a miracle if we even go anywhere at this point, since my mood is constantly swaying from social to anti-social. That said, I'm glad we didn't invest in new costumes this year.

I am re-thinking our costumes.

IF I can get off work early enough to go, I'll be recycling an older costume. For tonight (Azteca, karaoke, in case anyone feels like joining us), I'm totally wimping out and going to wear my outfit from last year's New Year's party :)

I'm concerned about my costume. I think it's the first time in a long time that I've chosen something a little less conservative than normal. Can't get too drunk, lest I let my ass hang out of the dress.

My true self has come out for Halloween.
Rough draft of costume:

The slip will be cut for a headband. (It'll be quite comfortable.) I don't like the headband (tie) in the picture. The wig is now black. Also, the jeans will be replaced by camo pants.

My favorite costume from coworkers - The Birds (i.e., a dress, a lot of fake blood, and a lot of glued on fake birds).

Hey, I know fully well this year's El Mio costume theme is not as instantly and overwhelmingly inspiring as last year's. Don't sweat it. Seems like too many people are meh or unhappy about their costumes. Pfft. Wear a mask, and we won't even know who's in the lame get-up!! :p




In other words, the costume's not the thing. It's the good time you have when everyone's in costume. Dress Up. Halloween. Fun.

It's our first El Mio ON HALLOWEEN. There's a wonderful magic about this night. Don't worry if your costume won't make the cover of Girls and Corpses. Just have a good time!

We found our costumes that we've worn for an event, but never for Halloween, and none of you have seen these in person, so they're perfect. (And, it saved me time and sanity.)

So, looks like I won't be making large obnoxious glittery masks for the eyes of the Yip-Yips after all. ;)

On Myo El Mio. That was fun (even with lamo costumes).

Well, I realize that it was a 'last year' theme for those of you in SoCal, but for not realizing that he was such a closet Disney fan, I was impressed with the actuality of it. Paintings from the stretching room, Madame Leota, singing busts, the Bride, and other hand-built scenes from the ride all made for passers by to see all built/painted by him, his wife and his kids. I also liked that he had pictures of the inner-workings of his Haunted Mansion so that I could see how he did it.

If anyone has photos of us, we'd like to see them. I don't even have a full-length mirror at home, so I really don't know what I looked like.

I can't see it :( I can now. I had to log out and log back in.

The final version of the costume w/ jacket and without. I wish I could keep that jacket but it was from Diamond Head Theatre's Costume Dept. (Believe it or not, my hair used to be that long in college.)

GC - you look fab. I have a leather fringe jacket from way back in the day hogging the back of my closet. If you'd like, you can lug it to HI with you.

(I considered the leather jacket for my own costume, but my angle was vegan-eco-crunchy-mom).

I'd love to lug it back to Hawai'i with me. :) Thanks! I love those jackets. They're hard to find here.

It was pretty neat, half of the people at the party didn't recognize me at first. That was pretty hysterical.

In true Steve Style, I had two costume changes throughout the evening.

After the first one, and with it being a masquerade and all, I was able to eavesdrop on a conversation about me before the speakers knew who I was. Haha - Success!

I've entered a Billy Mays costume photo contest being run by his son, Billy Mays III. Rule #2 of the contest - "Be tasteful (zombies are allowed)". :snap:

If I had given myself more time to rehearse I was tempted to send in a video instead of a photo. Since I decided on the costume so many months ago, I've been cultivating my impression and I think I'm pretty damn good at it at this point.

My family came down from Sacramento and we took the kids to Gilroy Gardens theme park ,about 30 minutes south of San Jose. Then went trick or treating at sun down.

TeeHee, We used a Peacock Theme as our Piano-topping Centerpiece, so I was especially tickled when Mrs. Peacock arrived in all her splendor. I hope a pic surfaces with all the peacock together in one feathered frenzy.

Love, love, love it! One of my kids was thinking of being a peacock this year but with a teal tracksuit. Yours is bettah. :snap:

We did Mickey's Not-So-Scary at the Magic Kingdom and also the Halloween festivities on the Magic. I was The Waffler both times (yes, the same costume from 2007).

That's Captain Tom to my left, one of his senior officers to my right. I'm sure they had NO. FREAKING. IDEA. what I was supposed to be. But I did win the "Most Creative" category in the costume contest later!
