Give a Day, Get a Disney Day
In 2010, to get your free (birth)day at Disneyland you'll need to do a day of community service.
I love this idea. We're letting our APs lapse so I've entered my email for updates. Can't wait to see the organizations list. Can you imagine the effect on volunteer organizations if all the people (or perhaps more accurately, a third of the people?) who got free birthday visits/gift cards actually did this? The bad news is that APers kind of get the shaft on this one. FAQ Quote:

Don't believe it has any connection to the Birthday Free Entrance. You'll still get that, at least that is what I understand.

The birthday free admission program end on 12/31/09. The give a day, get a day program is the replacement and begins next year.

Quote from Jay Rasulo....."What will you celebrate? will be extended through 2010 paired with an exciting new offer - Give a Day. Get a Disney Day."

I didn't think that included the free day on your birthday. But I certainly could be wrong.

Either way...we're all excited about the new promotion...it's a great way to get the community out doing charitable work with a great reward!

Yeah, but not offering a free day to AP holders is really cheap on Disney's part.
If the friend I would have given the free ticket to wants to do a volunteer day for the ticket, I'll gladly do that day with her and we'll enjoy the (what I assume is) all-attraction fast passes on the subsequent day at the Park. Otherwise, no, the fast pass alone is not carrot enough for me. |
It's a limited amount of fast passes, just like the birthday ones.
|
Yeah, basically one (group) fast pass for each fast pass attraction, right?

I think it's a great idea! A few people might figure out that volunteering can be fun, and might continue even without the promise of a free ticket.

I think I read somewhere that only 30% of the people that signed up for the free birthday promo actually showed up at the park to collect it. If people wouldn't bother to just show up to collect, then how many will work a day for it?
Granted, the main problem with the birthday giveaway was finding someone to pay for the day to go with, or one who had the same birthday or an AP. The other was having to go durring a work day. So with this special you can plan when to go, and take the day with a friend who earned a ticket (even work the day with them if you like). There should be a little better plan for the APs. I see very little of the over 800,000 being interested. I already have my ears anyway. |
