CoasterMatt - plan your trip to UK before you're too old!
Scariest coaster in the world opening at Alton Towers
So scary, you will have to sign a waiver, and only people between the ages of 16 and 55 may ride!! |
Yikes!
I am not too old but I am too old.....if you know what I mean. Think I'll pass on this one:eek: |
I will await CM's review but it sounds like marketing hype to me. "Ohhh! We are soooo scary! You need to sign a release, Oooh!"

Here is more doings about Thi3teen.
For some reason, I think Matt heard about this already like a million years ago. I think when a new coaster is born, he gets some sort of ESP message in the middle of the night, wakes up, nods his head and then goes back to sleep. :D I'd ride it. I think. |
Well, it isn't going top be scary because of it s SIZE. According to the Wikipedia page, it is only 70' high with a 66' drop and no inversions. By comparison, Deja Vu at Magic Mountain is 196' high with a 177' drop and six inversions and the tallest roller coaster is Kingda Ka in New Jersey at 456 feet with a 418' drop (though no inversions). Kingda Ka is also the fastest at 128 MPH!!!
I think it will be the theming that will make it "scary" (at least based on the limited info on the Wikipedia page) |
Pure marketing hype. Any waiver and age limit will last until about the time the last TV camera wanders off. (Is this the same park that had the BO marketing gimmick work so well?)
Of course that doesn't mean it isn't a good ride. |
Yes I assumed Matt already knew. And yes I assumed it was just a marketing gimmick.
Still, it's a marketing gimmick I can get behind. |
I think Thirteen might be the most overhyped thing since Expedition Everest- which was the most overrated lametastic coaster since USH's Revenge of the Mummy.
|
Makes me wonder if William Castle is behind this coaster.
