Life
Anyone else watching the series? It premiered tonight, 2 episodes. I was skeptical of Oprah as narrator. I'm not really digging the narration, but I think it has more to do with the writing than her. I think I like it even less than the Planet Earth narration, and I didn't love that.
But the imagery is outstanding. I can't get enough of that stuff. I am however creeped out by the phrase, "Life, presented by Target". |
If you want you can find a way to get the BBC version, I'm sure, which is narrated by Attenborough (don't know if the script is the same or if they rewrote significantly).
I recorded tonight's. History suggests I'll never actually get around to watching it but I enjoyed the snake mating swarm which is the three minutes I saw live. |
I wasn't watching it but it sounded interesting until Alex shared there were snakes.
Well, snakes were probable to be expected in the episode titled "Reptiles and Amphibians." The other 10 hours will probably have fewer.
I saw a promo with some insect that sucks in air and then pumps it behind its eyeballs to create long stalks that the eyeballs rest on....exceptionally cool, except that Oprah was talking. Completely ruined it for me.
I really liked the show, but since I was DVR-ing it for J (who is in BFE, Iowa at the moment) who wanted to see it in HD, I decided to start managing the rest of my housework. That and watched Ultimate Recipe Showdown.
Yeah, I think I'll wait till the Attenborough version is out on DVD. Oprah would make me ill. Plus, I don't have high-def cable (don't watch any TV so speak of), so it would not look great either. Waiting. Not impatiently.
Watching it? Hell, I am eating it for breakfast.
He likes it! Hey Mikey!
1) Was Oprah even worse in the bird episode or has it just finally gotten to me?
2) I was unprepared for bird vag. That's I did not need to see. |
