Normal, good coffee.

It seems whenever I really do want a caffeine boost it's on a day that I don't have time to stop and drink some crazy humongous Starbucks concoction. Not that I don't love me some specialty coffee stuff, but today, I just really want a cup 'o joe with my lunch.

What food establishments, especially of the quick lunch variety, serve good coffee? I've had a cup at Boston Market and was underwhelmed. I might get a cup of Quizno's today. Which of the fast food places offers brand name coffee? I can't think of any at the moment. I believe Denny's sports Seattle's Best, right?

Denny's has Millstone, which I actually quite enjoy.

Carl's has some good coffee, as well... But I forget the brand. I really like their iced tea as well (Can't stand that Nestea!)

I must be picky, but I cannot stand any coffee from a quickie food joint - even Denny's. A good cup of Joe from Peet's is best or an Americano from Starbucks (espresso and water) is usually all I will drink outside of a nice restaurant or home. Most of the stuff I've tasted from a fast food or quick serve restaurant is bitter, dull and undrinkable. See, picky.

I'm hooked on Java Detour.
There's one a block away from my office. Walking up to the drive-through window... I'm sure I look weird. But their coffee is great.

I always hear people say that McDonalds and 7-11 have good coffee but I do not like them at all. My tastebuds are spoiled ever since they opened a Peet's down the road from us. I don't think I have had coffee anywhere else since then.

Have you tried Denny's coffee in the last couple years? I'm picky too, but since they started serving Millstone, I actually like it.

MouseWife 04-15-2005 03:51 PM

I am not so picky. But, there is coffee I can't handle. I do not like 7-11. Tried it, can't stomach it.

We love to visit the coffee shop next to the bike shop but ya know, it surely adds up. Chickie works for Starbucks, too. But, still out of the way, both places, and to go daily does add up.

So. We put our heads together. We always like to take road trips and the constant trips for coffee was digging into our funds.

We found out that AM/PM is pretty tasty. Not really coffee but still good. The one down the street has a 'super caffiene' type. We mix the flavors. French vanilla, cappacino, and even hot chocolate. Sprinkle on some cinnamon.

Quick, cheap, and if you get a card punched, 6th cup free. For $5. we get two cups of joe, a muffin, and even a lottery ticket!

Yes. Still a big YUCK in my book.

Claire 04-15-2005 04:38 PM

Um, Denny's is a great big yuck anyway.

I can honestly say I've never drank coffee at a fast food restaurant (except an espresso milkshake once at Burgerville, but that was made from real espresso and real ice cream, not from a machine thing), and the idea doesn't sound appealing. At all.

I'm pretty sure all the McDonald's in our area serve Seattle's Best (they did an advertising blitz a few months back), but if I want a cup of Seattle's Best, I sure as heck wouldn't be trusting the baristas at McDonald's to brew it correctly! ;)
