This has been a damned entertaining story.

For those not following the story, basically, an Apple Engineer (Gray Powell) took his test next generation iPhone (not yet released or even formally acknowledged it is coming by Apple) with him to a bar to celebrate his birthday.

And left it there (DOH!)

Gizmodo bought it and has posted the whole saga of the loss and recovery by Apple. It is amusing.

How Apple Lost the Next iPhone
Why Apple Couldn't Get the Lost iPhone Back
How Apple asked for their phone back
All the details about the device
The Unofficial T-Shirt
Gray Powell's MySpace page (whatta pic!)

F*cking tabloid journalist.

Ignoring the information gained, isn't it a bit of a dick move to keep something you know was lost, where are capable of finding the owner and then not only telling everybody about it but tearing it apart to do so?

And Kevy had a better title.

I didn't believe this when I first saw it on Gizmodo several days ago. But I guess time (or at least a hundred thousand stories on the internet) has demonstrated it actually happened.

Meh, not all that excited about a forward-facing camera. Have they figured out any other cool features that might inspire purchase of a new device?

The funny thing is - I never even read about the actual features of the phone that they found out: I was more interested in the whole story of the lost phone (I've been following this for the last few days on Twitter).

The forward facing camera comes in handy for Skype and other video conferencing services. Also, so you can see what you are taking a picture of for sexting (without having to shoot a picture of yourself in the mirror).

Not sure it is worthy of dropping a working current model if you have something newer (at least 3G), but if you have an older iPhone or are looking for a new phone in general, it might be a good thing.

Not a little bit, it's a huge dick move.
