DVD to Blu-Ray trade up: $4.95

Quote:

Warner Bros. is making things a little less needful for new Blu-ray buyers with extensive DVD libraries in need of upgrading, slashing the lowest prices on its DVD2Blu upgrade program to $4.95 (+ the original DVD copy) and adding more movies to the list of eligibles for a total of 87
The website (which lists the movies) is DVD2Blu.com

Of course it might be more interesting if I actually owned any of the DVD's eligible for the upgrade.

What a great idea, let me go through my by-any-standards "extensive" DVD collection and, voila, I have all of 3 of their crappy titles.

Oh well.

Calling mousepod, calling mousepod. Eh, he won't care. He owns every movie ever made on DVD, and he'll just double the collection with the blu-ray versions anyway.

mousepod 05-07-2010 10:56 AM

Yeah... I've already double-dipped on the ones that I really wanted, like the Kubricks. There might be 2 or 3 that I'll go for, I guess...

innerSpaceman 05-07-2010 11:26 AM

It's a great idea really. Too bad it's from a studio whose films I guess I'm pretty meh about.

Actually, I have a list of laserdisc titles that I'm keen to get the blu-rays of. But I'm not so big on replacing DVDs with blu-rays. Seems like overkill to me.

blueerica 05-07-2010 02:13 PM

Yeah, we've been double-dipping, but there are quite a few on that list that we own that we haven't double-dipped on already. Needless to say, we'll be scouring our collection over the weekend.

Oooh! YAY!

Kevy Baby 05-07-2010 03:06 PM

I'm just glad they don't want the cases back - we would be SOL.

innerSpaceman 05-07-2010 03:13 PM

Well, on that list of wanted laserdiscs to DVD, Rock'n'Roll High School was DVD-reissued a few days ago ... and, heheh, a blu-ray comes out on the 11th. I love this movie, but it's not a visual masterpiece needing the blu-ray treatment.

mousepod 05-07-2010 03:16 PM

I'm buying Rock 'n' Roll High School on BD.

Just sayin'

Bornieo: Fully Loaded 05-07-2010 03:38 PM

I'm wondering if its worth it now for the WB titles because I "heard" that the transfers were no better than the DVD & most of the extras were already on earlier versions.

?

Rock & Roll High School DVD was actually pretty well done, iSM - the audio commentary is actually entertaining, too- especially when they make jokes at Roger Corman's expense.
