We've survived, but...

I'll be offline for the most part until whenever we are in our new house. The move from hell is at least over the worst part of the hump. We dumped our stuff in the pastor's garage and are now cramped in a 550 sq foot extended stay "hotel" suite (read, overpriced apartments for those that can't qualify for a real apartment, or a winter home for snowbirds). It could be worse, but it's kinda ghetto.

Our room faces the pool and the barbecue area. Every day at about 4pm a group of four beer bellied, shirtless white guys, two tank top and stretch pants wearing women, a couple kids, and a dirthead teenager congregate at the picnic table to listen to 80's hair bands and talk about bomber missions and CIA conspiracies. They'll warn you about the pool temperature as you pass by. As if I was thinking of swimming there anyways, thanks. One wonders how many nights in a row you can eat hotdogs. Three and counting so far.

Michael told his boss about our due date dilemma, so his boss finally informed the pastor that he has people waiting to move in. So the pastor is trying to work something out so that he moves out before the other people's house is ready. We should have a real date this week.

We got rid of most of our furniture due to it all being crap anyways and the grossest thing happened. We bought our couches from my sister a few years ago. We lost our surround sound remote a while ago, so Michael cut the bottom of the couch open before he moved it to look for the remote. Inside was a dead bird. We haven't had a cat in the entire time we've had that couch. There's no freaking way a great dane got a bird inside the couch. My sister has a cat. That bird has been there for at least two years. How gross is that?

Anyways, I'm paying by the minute for the phone line here. Posting this has cost me twenty cents. I most likely won't be online much. I'll be sure to post as soon as we're in our real house.

Some bright moments to this week: Our hotel has cable! I've missed cable. Sweet, sweet, cable. I'm across the street from a mall, a target, and a borders. If my marriage can survive this, it can most likely survive anything. We'll see if that's changed after living in this tiny place for a few weeks. :p I'm forced to be organized. This place is too damn small for my slobbish self.

Hope everyone keeps well in my absence. Oh, and please try not to shut down the boards while I'm gone. Almost every time I go offline for more than a few days, some crisis happens and everyone goes to a new board. I know it's hard without me, but please people, keep it together! :p

Thanks for letting us know what's going on, Traci! I hope you get to move into the house soon....but cable & Target & Borders sounds pretty cool to me. Eww, but the people by the pool don't sound cool to me. Ick.

Wow! Hey, if you can find the local library, you should be able to use the internet for free. Good Luck!

Best of luck, Traci! I'm sorry you have to be going through all of this, especially so close to your due date, but hopefully all will be worth it!

Recipe for amusement:

1) Gather the family.
2) Assign each family a member (or two!) of the Beer Belly Squadron.
3) Dub all their lines, as if you were in an improv game.
4) (adults and non-pregnant women only) Drink everytime someone mentions Zapruder film.

I was just thinking about you this morning! I'm glad at least SOMETHING has happened. Hopefully, the next thing that happens will be moving into your new house. I'm keeping my fingers cross, but I know that, whatever happens, it will all work out - and make for amusing stories later.

The end justifies the means, so keep up your spirits by watching "My Neighbor Totoro" again for the hundredth time! Justing watching or looking at Totoro (like your avatar) will bring smiles and good cheer to you and your family. Best wishes with everything. :)

Traci...thank goodness this looks like it might work out! Don't you just love how life throws you these little challenges?

Best of luck to you and the family, the pups too.
It's good to know there is progress, even if its not in the best kind of progress.

You take care of yourself, and I agree, you survive this you can survive anything.
In a year, that group with their conspiracy theories will be a source of laughter.
Hugs and stuff!

ps.. ICKKKKK on the bird.

Yes, what Gn2 said! Get thee to the library. They probably will give you an hour a day of free internet access. Plus, you'll get away from the beer bellies and cramped quarters for a bit.

Good luck with EVERYTHING, and don't worry, we aren't going anywhere. :)
