Need help with some gamer nerd logic
 

The following are two sets of worn/wielded items. I need to determine the maximum number of Dragonscale items one can wear/use while still wearing/using a minimum of three Mithral items. You can't wear two helms nor two armors—it has to be one or the other. You could, however, wear a Dragonscale Helm with Mithral Armor or vice versa. You can use a sword and shield at the same time.

I guess ultimately what I need to know is, would it be possible to use/don some combination of three Mithral items and also wear two Dragonscale items, or is one Dragonscale item the most you could possible wear while still wearing three Mithral. I keep going back & forth between one and two and now my brain is too fuzzy to see it clearly.

• Dragonscale Armor
• Dragonscale Helm
• Dragonscale Shield

vs.

• Mithral Armor
• Mithral Helm
• Mithral Gloves
• Mithral Sword

Can't you wear Dragonscale Helm and Shield + Mithral Armor, Gloves, Sword? Or is there some restriction on the gloves?

Agree with GD unless there is some restriction you didn't mention.

Mithral Gloves, Mithril Sword, and Dragonscale Shield are unique slots. So that's one Dragonscale and two Mithril without any haggling.

This leaves the Dragonscale Armor, Dragonscale Helm, Mithral Armor, and Mithral Helm.

Pick either the helm or armor in dragonscale and the remaining Miithral item for the last slot and you have your 3+2.

There are class restrictions on some of the items (I think that's what was giving me the brainlock), but they only complicated this discussion so I didn't mention them. But in case you're curious, here is the list of items and what classes can use them:

• Dragonscale Armor: Cleric, Druid, Fighter, Paladin
• Dragonscale Helmet: Barbarian, Cleric, Druid, Fighter, Paladin
• Dragonscale Shield: Barbarian, Bard, Cleric, Druid, Fighter, Paladin

• Mithral Armor: Bard, Cleric, Fighter, Paladin, Ranger, Rogue
• Mithral Helmet: Barbarian, Bard, Cleric, Fighter, Paladin, Rogue
• Mithral Gloves: anyone
• Mithral Sword: Barbarian, Bard, Fighter, Paladin, Ranger

So if you're feeling brave, could any one class wear three Mithral items and at least two Dragonscale?

The Paladin can wear any of it, so there's one right off the bat.

Only a class than can wear both the shield and the sword can do it, so that rules out Cleirc, Druid, Ranger, leaving Barbarian, Bard, Paladin as the only possibles.

The Barbarian cannot wear either of the armors, so that's out. The Bard can't wear either the dragonscale armor or helmet, that's a no. So we're all the way back to the Paladin.

FYI, this is for True Dungeon. It starts in a month and I'm as giddy as a schoolgirl in anticipation.

And now I have an urge to play Nethack.

And I just realized how very long it's been since I've gamed.
