I need to buy a printer - any recommendations

I need to buy a color printer for a user that does a LOT of printing. I've grown weary of HP's lack of quality in recent years.

I've had better experiences with Lexmark and Canon. After browsing their website, nothing really jumped out at me.

I tend to steer clear of the all in ones because they are slow.

I like a printer that has seperate inks for color.

Do any of you use a printer that you just love, that prints in color and is pretty fast?

Please define "Lot" in this context. 100 pages per day, 10,000 pages per day?

Are you looking for a:
Laser - Good for documents with color
Inkjet - Good for photos

Any other special requirements: Networked, large paper size, double sided?

Budget?

I recommend Costco.

Maybe Kevy's for sale?

I love our Lexmark. All in one, wireless so it can be anywhere you want. I don't know how it compares to others on the market but to me, it's relatively fast and quiet.

We bought it just hours before Theo punched a hole in my bag of water. :)

A lot being 100 - 200 pages a day.

Inkjet vs laser doesn't matter too much.

I'm looking for something that's going to last and is good deal with ink or toner.

Our previous HP printers have been great and long lasting until about 3 years ago when every new printer we bought from them lasted about 14-15 months. (just out of warranty) Prior to that they lasted 3-4 years.

Maybe I should just encourage him to use the color laser we already have up there instead. Toner is pretty expensive though... maybe I should instead focus on finding a better deal on toner for it. Hmm...

And Kevy I think is out of my price range. He's got all the bells and whistles.

For a business class high volume color laser, your cost per page is going to be the key factor.

You should be able to find something to meet your needs here.

I found a place online that's about 1/2 price of the toner from staples. Going to give that a try as it makes the current printer a little easier to handle.

Humm 1/2 price? Is that for generic or refills? I've spent a lot of time cleaning up the messes those things make.
