Best Buy Return Policy

Not taking an alarmist view, just passing on the info. Take notice that Best Buy's U.S. stores charge a 15% restocking fee on returns of some non-defective merchandise:

Quote:

Restocking Fee
A 15% restocking fee will be charged on opened notebook computers, projectors, camcorders, digital cameras, radar detectors, GPS navigation and in-car video systems. A 25% restocking fee will be charged on special order products, including appliances. These fees apply unless the item is defective or damaged, you received the wrong item, or the fee is prohibited by law.

AppleŽ iPhones
We accept iPhone returns or exchanges within 30 days from the original purchase. A 10% restocking fee will be applied.

Same is true of Fry's. It's a pretty common policy.

They've been doing that for years.

They consider it 'rental fee' for those customers who go in, purchase a high end product like a good digital camera for a vacation with every intention of returning it at the end of their trip. They can't refuse to take it back but they can make it less attractive to try and pull this off.

What's even more shocking is that they charge a 100% restocking fee for having to replace the item you took out of the store with another. So the good way to look at it is that by returning the item you actually save 85%.
