Another Dead Technology
 

Today I was able to add another entry onto my wall of dead tech.

Today I replaced the last printer still using a Centronics cable. Goodbye old friend. I send you off to retirement with a perfect operational record.

Geebus Grandpa, I haven't seen one of those in a decade at least.

Which begs the question, what's the oldest piece of tech you (or your company) is still using?

I have a few of those in a box in the closet. :blush:

I have a laser printer that can use those cables. It's at least 12 years old because it was here when I got here and I've been here over 11 years. Our voicemail/phone system is a minimum of 13 years old. And the copier is on it's last leg, but it's about that old as well. We run em till they die here.

I kid you not: one of our clients (well, our client's client), who needed to send us a data file of their patient addresses could only supply me an ASCII file because, they are still using (brace yourself): DOS.

The girl I talked to on the phone was actually embarrassed to tell me.

The wheel.

I miss DOS.

I don't.

I do. I really miss a command line interface (yes, I know I could have one but I'm too lazy for that).
