Late Notice Swanking Sunday: OC Museum of Art Calder Exhibit
Team Theo is planning on visiting the OC Museum of Art on Sunday. Just realized they're doing a Calder exhibit, one of our favorite artists.
Examples of his work (spoilers for size) Spoiler:
Plugging the museum's hours of operation (11AM-5PM) and Theo's hours of operation (8AM-~1PM and then 3:30PM-7PM) into a highly complex computer model results in the following schedule for our day's activities: 9:30AM: Brunch. Proposed location: Plums Cafe on 17th in Costa Mesa ~11AM: Museum ~1PM: Hope against hope that Theo is willing to nap in the stroller After 1PM: ??? Contingent on Theo's nap status. It's late notice and an early start, so no expectation of a huge turnout. But if anyone would care to join us at any point during the day, feel free! |
Best laid plans...
Ended up not making it out of the house this morning. Outside chance we might still go to the museum this afternoon, but probably not. |
I guess I'll leave the Cafe now.

Oh no! I hope you are making a joke about having waited at the cafe since 9:30? I sure hope so and that you didn't actually show up to the cafe in the morning :( Since no one replied I didn't think to officially call it off. Especially since A) we ended up going to the museum in afternoon T's nap and B) ended up at Plums Cafe at 3:30 looking for an early dinner (and realizing they were closed between lunch and dinner). I hate to think we missed you! Argh!
But we had a GREAT time at the museum. Turned out that today was "Free Second Sunday", so bonus. Also, since the free 2nd Sunday thing is specifically about encouraging families to show up with kids, no worries about whether T would be problematic. Which he was not at all. He had a blast, seemed to really enjoy some of the pieces and walking around the gallery. We loved seeing the Calders, many of which we recognized from the Chicago museum they were on loan from. Some nifty contemporary mobile/stabile pieces as well. All in all a great afternoon. |
kidding!
