Free GhirardelliChocolates - FYI

Just FYI the free chocolates you get at Ghiradelli are slit open on one end. Learned this the hard way. So don't just randomly throw them in your backpack. No idea why they do it, but it's done.

My guess was that they don't want people collecting and selling them? *shrug*

katiesue 06-04-2012 11:24 AM

Probably but it's not obvious that they are slit open. Hence my new chocolate coated credit cards :)

I would guess it would be easier for people to eat them, get them out of the package, plus they hope you eat it there and like it so you buy more.

There is nothing worse than chocolate covered credit cards, you can't lick them clean!

I don't get why they would have open anything that is typically a packaged food.

My guess is to avoid resellers. If it's open, you can't sell it. If they give you a closed package, you could potentially sell it to someone.

Kind of like cutout cds.

katiesue 06-04-2012 06:28 PM

It's all fine and dandy that they do it - but it's not obvious it's opened. So if you're like me you think oh I'll have that later and throw it in your backpack. Not realizing it's going to be a problem.

alphabassettgrrl 06-04-2012 07:03 PM

They should probably hand it out with the open end up and clearly visible.

See, KS - you need to be more anal retentive like me, and have a ziploc that you carry with you in case you get samples during the day that you don't want to consume at the time. Stale chocolates and tortillas suck.

Yes, even for the sealed ones.

No, I don't really do this. But I could.
