Obscure Tech Trivia
In researching another issue, I ran across this interesting tidbit:
Using Internet Explorer, if you select "view source" on a page as often as not you don't get anything. It turns out that if you clear your cache (tools->Internet Options->Temporary files->delete) it fixes the issue. Anyone else have a good but obscure technical tip? |
I have never had that issue, and I view the source of several pages, especially when I am building my own, to get tips and stuff on design implementation.

When using an Emulex 350/355 Inspeed switch to connect to a tape drive, it's best to set a custom port type that uses "target with stealth" mode and disables the PTBI option. This ensures that LIPs on the loop aren't sent to that port, and prevents the switch from forcing the drive to perform a test login before logging into the loop which most drives don't handle well.
How's that for obscure? |
WOW! My eyes just glazed over.
|
Sorry, you're right. the Inspeed is more of an intelligent hub than a true switch. While it does route traffic directly from port to port, it only supports arbitrated loop protocol and thus is not a true fabric switch. Sorry for the confusion. ;)

Umm... 1+1=2
That's all I got. |
Cetain devices can be activated by dpressing a button directly on the dvice without the use of a remote, or other wireless inteface - this is sometimes know as the "on/off switch."
