Satchmo
I'm sitting here listening to a Satchmo record ("Satchmo Plays King Oliver) that FlippyShark gave me for my birthday, and realized that there hasn't been a Louis Armstrong tread. Of course no one is more swanky that Satchmo. He's my all time favorite musician.
So is there anyone else out there who is a Louis Armstrong fan? |
I dig Satch, but I can't say that I have any of his stuff....Now I'm on a mission to rip a CD from the library. :D

Stachmo was my dad's favorite. He loved Dixieland and I think that was one of the main reasons he had for going to the park. Anyway, I grew up with him and he still always reminds me of my childhood, and going to Disneyland. I particularly enjoy his collaborations with Ella Fitzgerald.

I was born in the wrong era. I feel a kinship to Satchmo and many of the other Jazz musicians of that era.
My Dad was a Jazz musician and loved Satchmo. I remember seeing him play at Disneyland when I was about 5 or 6. It's a very distinct memory and one of the few that have stuck with me for these many years. Of course, I love seeing him on film in the musical version of "The Philadelphia Story" - High Society. |
Here's and item combines the best of Satchmo and Disney. "Disney Songs the Satchmo Way"

Louis is unmatched. Gotta love him.
My list of favorites is long: Louis, The Bird, Ella, Billie, Miles, the Duke, etc., etc. Just heard a bit on NPR about a drummer, Roy Haynes. He's played with the greats and is still playing at 80. And from what they played on air...I gotta get some of his work, wow! |
Husband! Do you have a Satch CD? I know you have Miles and the Bird...I should stick those on my iPod.
|
I think Satchmo was a great addition to the Matterhorn. Oh, wait, that's...nevermind.
|
Nope, no Armstrong in my collection.
|
Hmmm.... Must hook up Satchmo-less friends with good music....
