Crossing the 49th, eh!
Some friends and I have decided to venture across the border and exchange one Vancouver for another over Memorial weekend. It's going to be a fantastic weekend of girlfriends, shopping and site-seeting. The last time I was in BC was about nine years ago. (Kinda pathetic since it's only a six hour drive).
We've booked a suite at the Best Western Chateau Granville downtown where we'll be in walking distance of Chinatown and Gastown, and just a few minutes drive to Stanley Park. I'm looking forward to checkout the Vancouver Museum because, well, I'm a museum nerd. :) And, a friend of mine lives on the Sunshine Coast so I'm hoping we'll have time to get together for a bit. Has anyone been to Vancouver, BC recently? Got any suggestions of places to go or things not to be missed? I need to get a certified copy of my birth certificate. For the life of me I have no idea where the original is. That and a valid piece of ID should be ok for getting back into the states. I hope. Oh, and I need to brush up on my Canadian speak. :snap: |
Does 25 years ago count as recently?

I'm not sure we'll have time to ferry over to Victoria for the gardens. They are beautiful though. ;) The aquarium...good idea, thanks!
LOL... GD. I guess it all depends on one's idea of recent. :) |

There is a totem pole. I had my photo taken infront of it when I was 9 (1986)

You will have a wonderful time. Spring is beautiful up there, the flowers are in bloom and it seemed really clean to us.
The flowers gardens up there are amazing and I remember walking around Stanley park and another one. A great place for a picnic. There are many wonderful little places to eat. Of course I don't remember names!! China town was fun to stroll through and we picked up little things to eat here and there. I believe there were street vendors when we were there. Yes, you need a certified copy of your birth certificate and picture id to get back in the US. They say by the end of the year you'll have to have a passport to go to Canada or Mexico even! Have a great girls weekend!! |
Apparently the little India area has some great deals on silk fabric, but you have to watch because they often put the cheap blend stuff out front for the tourists.
