Cool! I love that I've been able to call from the tarmac recently. Having more connectivity on a flight would certainly make the flight go faster. But, what kind of connection would you get way up there? I can't take to UG at the 405/55 incerchange, let alone miles up.

The only thing that would bother me would be the various ring tones going off. Maybe, like in a theater, you would need to put your phone on silent. Or, if I understand correctly from the article, this would just be expanding the AirTalk service.

Will they float an armada of cell towers across the pacific, or do you suppose cell zeppelins will take to te air? Which Company will offer the best inflight service? These will be the important questions of our time.

I didn't own a functional watch when I flew last December, so I turned my phone on once to check the time while in the air. I didn't have any service up there, of course. So, I'm interested in these cell zeppelins that Chris speaks of.

What's the "AirTalk service"? Do you mean air phones? I haven't seen one of those on a plane in a long time. Then again, I've been flying odd airlines lately and maybe I've only been on budget planes or something.

If everyone around me on a plane is going to be on their phones, there's going to need to be an in-flight chocolate service as a coping mechanism. And free noise-cancelling headphones.

Air Phones, Air Talk, I only stare at them for hours on a plane, why would I know what they're called? :rolleyes:

Our recent flight to Tokyo had these little divices that were remotes on one side and phones on the other. Pretty cool. I've neveer used one, though. I'm sure the cost in prohibitive.

Sorry babe, but this kind of thing is inevitable. I'm sure that eventually everyone will settle into the routine of shutting off your phones when the "Quiet Time" light dings on. Much how we have accepted non-smoking flights in the last 20 years.

Will there be phone detectors in the lavatory and will we be warned that federal regulations prohibit tampering with said detector?
