House of Blues, Anaheim~DEVO

Well, I've been keeping my eyes open for this one....

Devo is playing at the HOB in Anaheim {I am assuming DTD?}.
The tickets were a bit steep, $62.50. Double that, add a hotel room, meals, and, it wasn't doable.

But...

Today is 2 for TU!!! Meaning, to select shows, you can buy one ticket and then {as long as they have more} you can get the second one free!!

I know there are Devo fans out here and I wanted to let you know. The show is 8/05/05. The ticket sale starts at 10 a.m. until 10 p.m.

Am I going? I don't know...I just wanted to share this. I don't believe you have to be a member of the HOB site, call the place and find out if you are interested. If you need to sign up, it isn't that difficult.

Good luck and let me know if anyone goes!!!

Woohoo - Thanks for the tip Mousewife. I'd been watching this one for awhile. Having seen Devo numerous times back in the day, I'd been curious to see what kind of a show they put on today. Of course, with prices like that - close to the price of a day in Coachella, I just couldn't justify the cost of my curiosity.

Anyway, I just picked up 2 for 1 this morning. Now I guess I just have to see if Not Afraid can stomach an evening with Devo (punk rock purist that she is). I promise I'll leave my yellow suit at home.
;)

I'll never forget the first time I saw DEVO. They were on Saturday Night Live. I freaked out. The next day I ran, literally, to our little town's pathetic record store and demanded to know if they had it. Two long weeks later, I was the happy owner of Q:Are We Not Men A: We are DEVO! My little geek brain went spazoid. Alas, I never saw them live.

I hear tell that a certain someone with a post just above mine had an amazingly similar experience.

See what happens shen you sleep late! ;)

It must be love. I'm going to see DEVO.

Flippyshark, that is what happened to my sis and I back in the day! She found them on an LA radio station {same one we would listen to Dr. Dimento} static and everything. It was awesome!! We were faithful listeners, regardless of what anyone said!

Yeah Chris! Glad you guys got tix! The Hubster and I are toying but not real serious about going. See, they are also playing down here and that would be more feasible. We did a few shows up in L.A. recently and whew! did the $$ fly out the window! I hope they do a 2 for TU here....

But, yes, you guys were who I was thinking might go...

A report would be awesome!! And, not yellow suit but will you wear the flower pot?

Lisa, Coachella must have been heaven for you {punk rock purist that you are ;) }.

I love hearing your DEVO experiences!!!

Early KROQ perhaps - Rodney Bigenheimer. The ONLY punk show for quite a while.

Oh yeah! It was old home week for me. Sort of bittersweat since the period of the late 70's early 80's was so fantastic musically and that really hasn't been recreated with quite the same intensity. But, it is nice to know that aging punk rockers can still perform and still play some really great music.

It was also great to see some new talent. I love how inspired Arcade Fire is by early Brian Eno, Talking Heads and even a bit of Disco. It's fun to make those connections.

Man oh man. DEVO! And of course they're not playing in SF. August 4 & 5 in Anaheim and then again on September 1. Hmmm.

Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah YEAH!

Not Afraid 07-26-2005 01:09 PM

So, I hear there's a room available for you 2 that night. ;)

MouseWife 07-26-2005 01:16 PM

Oh, I heard there were so many great bands there. I like how they do promote the new bands, too. As well as the older ones. A new band that I am liking is 'The Bravery'. Also, I'd like to see System of a Down so that I can see 'The Mars Volta' open for them.

Did you like Nine Inch Nails performance? I am not really familiar with all of their music, mostly their radio tunes. But, I am going to their show in September. They are kicking it off here in SD. Ugh, I forget the name of the other band {QOTSA yes but another}...Audiovox? Or is that the name of a electronic company?

Ah...so many shows...so little time!!

I thought NIN took a while to get their groove back. I saw them once before with David Bowie and they were fantastic. They seemed to start out slow at Coachella, but then they really got it together and put on a good show. It was probably great, but I was so exhausted and we wern't in the best spot. They can sound really great and Trent still has it. (Now that he's sober, he just makes my little heart pound!)

There's some stastic about bands that play at Coachella have a HUGE jump in the record sales. Maybe € remembers what that is.
