I want to do my hair like Robert Smith

I am looking for some tips on how to make my hair look like Robert Smith from the Cure. I know that there are some old school goths in the LOT so I hope you can help me.

Last Halloween I went as Robert and at the time had hair that came almost to my sholders. now my hair is just below my ears. I kind of did the hair right for Halloween, I backcombed the hell out of it but I could not get it to go into the hair segments to stick together so I ended up just with a really big fro.

All I did last time was I backcombed it and the aqaneted it until there was a small hole in the o-zone layer above my home. So if you could recomend and tips or styling products that would be great! Thanks

Try using bacon drippings...

Hmm... you could achieve that with a combination of a LOT of teasing and Ice Spiker, and Shake Effects I think is the other one.
It'll take some time though.

The ice spiker will definately hold it, and the shake effects would help get the hieght.
Lets see what the other goths have to say.

I always had the long goth look, but Extra Super Hold Aqua Net was my friend.

But, I have a feeling O.P. might be able to give you some hints. ;)

I'm going to volunteer wendybeth for this job, she's a hairdresser. :)

Why thank you, CP!

Might I suggest the following:

I am so sorry that it was not available in the early eighties. Life would have been much simpler, not to mention spikier.

Thank you everyone for your great suggestions! I know nothing about hair products so this is great. One other thing should I wash my hair with a certin shapoo?

Nah- when it comes to styling, it's all in the products. Good shampoos will clean your hair without trashing it, and there is an incredible array of styling prods these days for whatever you want to do. This stuff is actually fairly water soluble, so it will wash out with less effort than good ole Aqua Net.

Update!!!

Succsess! After trying a lot and I mean a lot of different ways of going about this hair stlye I think I have hit apon somthing that works! All I do is backcomb the hell out of it then put some mose in then spay it stiff. I tried a lot of different products but this combo seems to be the easyest and long lasting, it only takes 10 to 15 mins. Now that I know how to do it the question is going to be WHEN to do it. SInce I go to art school I can wear (or not wear) whatever I want and do whatever I want with my hair and not got weird looks, but if I go to say...Disneyland I think I will get some strange looks which sometimes is fun but not always welcome (it is sometimes nice to blend into a crowd, although it has never been something I am good at ;) ).

Thanks everyone for your advice and not laughing at the idea! I would post a picture but my I lost my memory card for my digital camera, but I will post one when I get a new memory card. Thanks again!
