Doppleganger

I met my virtual doppleganger today - he sent me an IM.

You see, long long ago, when installing some software we needed a "Company Name" as part of the activation/registration process. I was subscribing to Anarchy Magazine at the time, and Lisa was reading up on Zen - hence the name "Zenarchy" was born. It please both our Zen and Anarchist sensibilities, so it's sort of stuck and has manifested itself in several places, including the ur-version of these boards.

Strangely though, this made-up word had found some users in it's various spellings. To get an AIM ID I had to take Xenarchist, as Zenarchy and Xenarchy were already taken.

So I am at work, and a chat window opens from "Xenarchy" - WTF, I think? Did I just accidentally send myself an IM? How is this possible? Or did someone hijack my account? Neither was the cast it seems.

Earlier Fej/Ubergeek42 was trying to send me an IM, and ended up sending it to my Doppleganger instead, who of course checked out his namesake website and sent me a note as well. Strangely he was also at work and mentioned that he also goes by "Chris" - Indeed!

So we chatted briefly about the site, who we were and what it was about, and a dare say he might be checking in on us now - that is of course, if he is a he. I didn't bother to check gender - or location for that matter. Perhaps is best just knowing that he's out there, living a parallel life on the Internet.

Bwahahaha! Another Xenarchy Chris!!! This world is just too wacky.

"I Wanna Be Xenarchy!"

I love this story so much! I got it from Fej, first, then from another husband (GD) second, until I confronted the "real" husband about what was going on. He didn't reveal too much - I think he was a bit stunned.

I just can't believe that someone else has the same crazy name that took 2 of us to devise.

I wonder if he/she has a NA in his/her life? Actually, I wonder a lot of things (as is wont to happen when Chris talks to someone as opposed to me ;) )

I was playing drums at a gig one night in San Clemente. After one of the sets, this gentleman came up and introduced himself to me as Eric. He was a drummer from Checkoslovakia. We talked for a while and really hit it off. We found out that we were influenced by a lot of same people. Later we found out that we had the same last name. And as luck would have it, I'm about 1/4 Checkoslovakian. :)

Small world sometimes.

It's Seinfeld all over again.

Bizzaro world. :)

Woah, that is creepy. Maybe he crawled out from a parallel universe or something. Maybe I'm just tired and thinking of random things. I don't know.

All I know is that if I ever meet another 25863 I'll be creeped out.

He created his screen name 10 years ago - about the same time I did...

You're really starting to creep me out.

Have you demanded a picture yet? Or at least, a physical description? If he has anything remotely like your body type...

As I said before - I didn't even confirm gender
