Rolling, Rolling, Rolling.. Blackouts that is.

So are any of you being affected by the SoCal rolling blackouts? What am I saying, I doubt you would be posting if you were :)

Well, obviously not. ;)

It is blisteringly hot today by beach standards (high of 94), so I'm not surprised that we're having them.

Hmmm, last time I checked I was in an exempted part of the grid, but these things change all the time.

Other than that, working for a major utility, we've been working in reduced lighting and power the past few weeks.

I hope not....I'm in the dersert and we need the air until the sun goes down....I ahven't even heard of the rolling black outs.

Actually, yes, earlier this afternoon it seems at least a part of North San Diego County had a blackout, for about 40 minutes in my area. When the power suddenly went off at my office, you immediately heard screams of anguish--obviously some of my co-workers had not "saved" their work on their computers. :(

However, I was not affected and kept working as usual since the battery on my Apple PowerBook G4 laptop automatically kicks-in.

Might I suggest your company invest in some UPS units?

I knew it was going to be a hot one when the sky was crystal clear at 7:30 AM.

On top of the heat, I heard a couple transformers went down (poor Optimus)
