Hong Kong Disneyland

Too bad there's nothing to do at the very pretty park, and there's no other Disney park to take up the slack ... as is the case in California, France, and Florida.

Hong Kong Disneyland may not have that much to offer in size and ride count so far, but that video footage conjures up desire for visiting a place that will be similar yet completely different and brand new from the original Disneyland. The opening-day clips do seem to bring a mood of anticipation and excitement for the first Disney park in Asia.

Imagine seeing the "Here you leave the world of today..." entrance plaque in both English and Chinese. Or, how about walking onto Main Street and seeing an oddly familar castle at the end, but with mountains in the background! Or hearing ride-safety spiels in Chinese (which I will be able to understand since I'm fluent in Cantonese, the prominent Chinese dialect in Hong Kong).

It's great that Chinese tradition was mixed into the opening ceremonies. The lion-dance acrobats looked amazing in jumping and dancing on those poles high off the ground.

Side note: My family was planning to visit Hong Kong last year, but the Disney-geek member of the family (me) won out and convinced everyone to wait until after Hong Kong Disneyland opens. :D

You must spread some Mojo around before giving it to DisneyDaniel again.

Ummm...What about Tokyo DL and DisneySeas? Those are in Asia. I loved the video! Especially the dragons jumping around. That rocked. I haven't heard much about the park, but the video was cool.

 Oops, you're right. Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea are obviously part of Asia. I should have said Hong Kong Disneyland is the first Disney park in China. If Disney opens a park in Shanghai, it will continue their targeting of Chinese consumers.
