Whoa! a)scary b)good thing you have a cop in your neighborhood c)when did you move to LN????

Ghoulish Delight 09-21-2005 10:09 AM

Good thing you moved out of scummy ol' HB for somewhere safe and quiet. Geesh.

BarTopDancer 09-21-2005 10:17 AM

Very scary. It was across the street/parking lot from me. I think it was about 1am. I heard loud bizarre sirens and figured they were going after the lunitics that street race on the windy roads of south county.

I moved down to LN last August to get away from my scary/psycho loud neighbor.

I left for work and the Sheriffs dept was camped out in the lot, they were checking IDs. I went back home for a bit because I was so freaked out. When I left for work (again) the media had arrived in full force. NBC, CBS and ABC all had their vans in the lot.

Somehow the term "suspect in custody doesn't make me feel better.

Edit: I just re-read the article. It's updated to say the girls uncle is a suspect.

Morrigoon 09-21-2005 10:27 AM

I knew it was a relative of some sort. Uncle, eh?

Well, I know it's not *very* comforting, but if it's a family member that means there aren't random lunatics sneaking in strangers' apartments at least, so you can (hopefully) breathe easier now.

BarTopDancer 09-21-2005 12:03 PM

Ya. It appears he had just started living there.

I know I should find it *comforting* that it wasn't some random lunitic sneaking into apartments but I don't. I want to move. Until today I loved my apartment. Great deal, great location, great hands off landlord. I was going to stay until I could afford something bigger or afford to buy a place of my own. It's really silly but I'm freaked out and I have no desire to go home. Unfortunately it's where I have to go.

Sigh. Thank you for indulging my scardicatness. It may seem silly but it's how I feel.

Every neighborhood has an equal chance of random loonies. Look at Eric and Lyle Menendez - being rich or living in a nice area didn't keep their parents from being murdered by their own nutjob kids. Just be happy that YOUR area's nutjob family member was found and incarcerated (rather than still out and roaming the neighborhood). Now you can sleep safe.

BarTopDancer 09-21-2005 12:13 PM

And be happy that my nutjob family doesn't live anywhere near me ;)

Thanks Morri. That does help.

Wow. I was channel surfing, and I saw them interviewing someone outside your gate and I actually thought to myself that that looked like your complex, then I changed the channel.

Scary. That's why I don't take much comfort in living in the city with the lowest crime rate, blah blah blah. Random shyte like this can happen anywhere.

alphabassettgrrl 09-21-2005 02:52 PM

Gah. I heard about this on the radio. Great, a gal lets her brother live with her and in payment he kills her kid. :: shudder ::

One more reason to choose one's friends carefully. Random crime happens but much more crime is by someone we know.

I'm just glad they got the guy.
