But the worst part is, my Mother-in-law TOLD him to try driving the car. Doh! I don't even get to kick his tail over this.

Yipes!! My mom did the same thing when she was learning to drive a car (I'm totally not advocating a 12 year old learn!!). Only... she did it to a brand new freezer in the garage and my 10-speed bike. I can't beleive your MIL told him to try driving!

Well, at least he hit the garage door and not the brick wall around it.

I took out the center support post in the garage when I was learning to drive. The one they thought was absolutely critical for holding up the loft above it. The one they were so afraid to remove even for an instant that they put off resurfacing the garage floor, even though it badly needed it.
