poetry of Capt Jack

together
finally alone
a single breath a lifetime
an hour but a heartbeat
parted by the merciless blade of a second hand
suddenly separate
forever as one

dogfood

the dog is looking up at me
to see what it is that he can see
"maybe he'll drop a little bite
hes such a clutz, you know he might"

"maybe if I tilt my head
he'll toss me down a crust of bread
I know hes having steak up there
I can smell it floating on the air"

get your nose away from me
I'm eating dinner....cant you see?
dont look at me with those puppy eyes
I'm hip to that, I'm far too wise

and get your paws down off my lap
Im too darn smart for all that crap!
besides you already had your chow
you had your turn, its my turn now.

"he'll weaken soon. hes getting full
he aint so tough, what a load of bull
so if I sit here being cool
he'll pony up...oh! did I drool?"

"he's sitting back, its almost time!
oh feast of humans, you'll soon be mine!
hes looking over, time to lay it on thick
a wagging tail might just do the trick"

fine, ya' beggin' mangy mutt
quit being such a pain in the butt
I saved this morsel just for you
youre a pretty good dog, I love you too.

Okay, my mooch of a dog Mellie is sitting right next to me, gazing imploringly at me with those sad brown eyes......

And I am totally not falling for it!

(sigh) Brb.

(Sound of pantry door opening).

I am such a pushover.

Those were cool!

Capt Jack 11-03-2005 01:02 PM

good morning, my ass!

the radio blares into my half awake brain
it cares not for dreaming and feels not my pain
the sun is still sleeping, so why then can't I?
its yet to come out and chase night from the sky

your duty is calling, they want you there NOW!
my head is still throbbing like a nail in my brow
drag myself out and kick myself up
stumble to shower, pour a hot cup

scubbed and scraped hairless, deodorant too
"why do I bother? like they'll ever smell you?"
out to my car, cup still in my hand
and start out across this dark, desolate land

arrive at my station still bleary and bleak
sit down in my chair and struggle to speak
“what is it you want? What is it you need?
You’d better talk fast lest I leave you to bleed!”

“we just needed your key, no reason to fret.
We were just wondering why you weren’t here yet”
I hand them my key and slump back in my chair
Trying to stay calm and breathe in the cool air.

The sun is now cresting up over the hill
The pain in my head is beginning to still
So this was my morning. Good morning to you.
Hope your morning was better, hope mine is soon too.

the fragrance of you swirls in my head
caressing my mind and memory
as close as my heart
yet far from my grasp as the stars in the suffocating night
no repent. no regret
I await the light to bring you into my sight
and set me free within myself once again

Capt Jack 11-06-2005 05:53 PM

longshot

I pulll you close, closer to me
my hand slides across you slowly to places known to me well
your curves fit me as if made from my own
breathe in breathe out

slowly with nary a sound, I feel your warmth come to my cheek and rest
a measured breeze flows past us as we await the moment we've come here for
breathe in breathe out

my fingers tingle with anticipation as the moment draws near
with the stillness of a stone yet we move together nearly imperceptible to the eye
breathe in breathe out

my eyes search deeply to and through you to find what we both seek to find
so very far as to be nearly invisible but within our grasp
breathe in breathe out

the time has come
breathe in

my hands set in motion what cannot now be halted
a clap of thunder and blinding flash leap forth setting the very earth to shake beneathe us
and as quickly as it begins, its moment is now behind us leaving but a memory

- written during a long distance rifle competition a number of years back. what? you thought maybe something else?

PS: thanks to everyone for letting me post this crap here. I know most of it is second rate at best, but eh.....feels good to at least let it out :D

I like your poems!:snap:

There's just something about a poetic pirate.....;)

Cadaverous Pallor 11-06-2005 08:07 PM

Even better, a pirate writing a love poem about his rifle! :snap:

You must spread some Mojo around before giving it to Capt Jack again.

lizziebith 11-06-2005 10:56 PM

Me too: You must spread some Mojo around before giving it to Capt Jack again. :snap:
