Giant Robotic Bugs!

I love San Diego, I love robots, and I love bugs, so next weekend the Mr. and I are thinking of visiting this sweet exhibit.

Not Afraid 11-12-2005 09:12 PM

I have a admit that, while I loved the butterfly in the first pic the second picture gave me giant shivers and caused to to exclaim loudly ARGHEEEEEEEEKKKKKKK! I then quickly closed the window.

I would have to stay out of that room. I truely am mortified by one thing and only one thing, and I found the scary giant version to be too much.

Fortunantely, I don't feel the same about the people that fall under that particular sign.

Oh, I agree on just that one! Ewww...they fluoresce (sp) and carry their icky babies around in a pile on their backs...but they FREAK ME OUT! So says the woman with 8 pet tarantulas who was also born under that zodiac sign. Still, bugs: le sigh! I love the little critters!

Lizzie:

Thanks for the heads up. GusGus and I may add this to our itinerary if we go to SD over Thanskgiving weekend.

At the reptile store we frequent (for food for our bearded dragons), they carry a couple of scorpions for those who like them as pets (WTF?!?).

They also have millipedes

and tarantulas.

Well, and a bunch of cool reptiles like beardies, different varieties of iguanas and chameleons, all sorts of snakes, and Pac Man Frogs:

I want a Pac Man Frog Daddy!

Cadaverous Pallor 11-13-2005 02:24 PM

Yeah! Huge bugs! So cool. I'd like to see the dragon at DLRP munching on one of those guys.

Is this the part where I chime in and say that I took the child to this exhibit?
And that we... umm.. slept there?
Inside the bug room... between the Rhinoceros Beetles, and the butterfly?
All night long... really.
And they had an insect meet and greet for the kids?

I need to find those pics...

You know, I saw a bunch of these at the Butterfly Museum in Denver this past summer and all I could do was giggle because all you hear are the clicking of the motors and the air from the pneumatics making them move - lol. Imagineering creations they are not. But still creepy looking at a 7' tall praying mantis. Bugs - BLECHY!!

Me, too! This is very, very rad!
