The Sun still hidden
The thinnest band of red emerges
The deepest darkest red
Almost black
Crimson
Blood
None of those describes it right
It’s primordial
Primeval
The whole world reborn
For another year

places fall upon the shelf
winters smile now shows its face
and spreads its love about the place

the earth has turned a season passed
slumber to the world at last
closer now to a year gone by
that made us laugh, that made us cry

winter my dearest long lost friend
its good to see you once again
may you bring the rest the world needs so
and refresh the world before you go

come spring we will awaken then
bid farewell to each other again
