This One's for Not Afraid

I'm surprised CoasterMatt didn't post this one already. :)

Police aren't sure how else to explain it. But when an officer walked into an apartment Thursday night to answer a 911 call, an orange-and-tan striped cat was lying by a telephone on the living room floor. The cat's owner, Gary Rosheisen, was on the ground near his bed having fallen out of his wheelchair.
Rosheisen said his cat, Tommy, must have hit the right buttons to call 911.

I hear Lisa's cats can do that, too... with their cellphones.
:D

Nah, I've seen Lisa's cats' typing, and they usually don't say anything helpful ;)

It's simply that they learned typing from their owner, and thus their typo-ridden text makes no sense to the uninitiated.

But they are, as might be expected, very good at cell phone use. Great with speed dial.

Yes, but unfortunately the same training means their instincts would not lead them to dial 911, rather they'd go straight for Disney Dining.

Oh dear. And my ears wern't even burning. But, my palm was itching. What does that mean again?

It means you need to wash your hands.
:D

Well, let's hope NA is never in need of emergency medical assistance, lest she simply end up with a reservation at Catal ... stat!

(CATal being the feline's favorite at the resort)

Heh, turns out this story was far less interesting than the opening paragraph let on.

Rosheisen got the cat three years ago to help lower his blood pressure. He tried to train him to call 911, unsure if the training ever stuck.

The phone in the living room is always on the floor, and there are 12 small buttons -- including a speed dial for 911 right above the button for the speaker phone.
I think the only unbelievable part of this story is that he tried to lower his blood pressure by trying to train a cat ;)
