Gang of sharks' kills Australian

I saw this and thought imediately of Flippyshark - this link is for him.

Noteworthy quote:

Quote:

The attack happened at Amity Point, which shares a name with the fictional setting for the film Jaws.

So, where were the Jets?

flippyshark 01-08-2006 05:08 PM

Flippyshark only eats swimmers who have been coated in corn batter and deep fried.

Apparently, this was a gang of bull sharks, now thought to be responsible for more human fatalities than the great white.

Wild about the name coincidence with Amity. By coinkydink, I have a friend coming over tonight to watch JAWS. He has never seen it. Whee!

Flippy, I don't know if I've ever told you this, but I love your avatar.

I've also decided I am never going in the ocean again.

Going swimming in murky shark infested waters is about as smart as trying to swim from Tom Sawyer's Island to New Orleans Square...

Gemini Cricket 01-09-2006 07:46 AM

I always thought it was Amity Island in 'Jaws'.
???

flippyshark 01-09-2006 08:33 PM

Yep. The town and island are simply called Amity, no Point.

innerSpaceman 01-09-2006 09:07 PM

And the locale was meant to be an island off the south shore of Long Island, but was named after the slightly inland Long Island town of Amityville.

Amnityviller is a HORRORible place.

Cadaverous Pallor 01-09-2006 09:11 PM

Is that the same Amityville from The Amityville Horror?
