I got 24/33 - and it took forEVER because I couldn't spell part of 32 for some ODD reason.... Some of it's a little culturally biased, but interesting, none-the-less....

Prudence 01-21-2006 03:12 PM

grrrr. 3 of them are stumping me at the moment.

flippyshark 01-21-2006 07:31 PM

I did great, until I came smacking up against the cultural bias issue, specifically:

Spoiler:
Items involving sports, particularly British sports. (There were two of these.) The only one I feel bad for missing was "23 P of C in the HB." I smacked myself upside the head when I read the answer.

I got 26, so I guess I'm a genius too. Woo-hoo.

So, here are some they left off the list. Score 500 points for each one you get right. Any score above 500 and you are a complete god!

1) 50 W to L Y L

2) 7 K to B

3) 10 T I H A Y

4) 88 K on a P

5) 3 C in a F

6) 2 Y B the M

7) 3 L K (L T M)

8) 52 P U

9) 8 D a W

10) 2010 T Y W M C

Answers:
Spoiler:
1) Fifty Ways to Leave Your Lover 2) Seven Keys to Baldpate 3) Ten Things I Hate About You 4) Eighty-eight Keys on a Piano 5) Three Coins in a Fountain 6) Two Years Before the Mast 7) Three Little Kittens (Lost Their Mittens) 8) Fifty Two Pick Up 9) Eight Days A Week 10 ) Two Thousand Ten: The Year We Make Contact

Now, those have some cultural bias!

Prudence 01-21-2006 11:54 PM

I missed the same one as flippyshark and engaged in similar head smacking. I also missed the "geographic" one, again a cultural bias, I think.

I did get one more, but I kind of cheated. I knew what it was about, but I didn't know one of the terms, so I googled. But in my defense, I googled the specific topic (which was one of the terms to guess), so I think I get some credit.

Spoiler:
6 B to an O in C. I really did know the B and C, but I couldn't come up with the proper O. (I was thinking of an American sport...) Really! I read too much Wodehouse in high school.

took this the other day. same score. 24 of 33. and I spent a few minutes at dictionary.com getting #32 and #13 exactly right.

MickeyLumbo 01-22-2006 11:40 AM

wtf!

ok, it reads there is no time limit... but, after one hour i have only answered 22 of 33. i also used the dictionary for numbers 13 and 32. (i don't think i have EVER written those words prior to today).

i don't wanna give up, but my butt is numb.

Ghoulish Delight 01-22-2006 11:49 AM

I got up to 19 and stopped, because true genius is doing just enough work to get the job done. Then, as I was typing my response here, a 20th hit me.

scaeagles 01-22-2006 12:18 PM

I got 20 in about 10 mintues, then got bored.

Does that mean I'm smart, or that I lack focus when things don't come easily?

Snowflake 01-22-2006 01:00 PM

24/33 for me. Thanks for posting this, it was fun, if a little frustrating.

Ghoulish Delight 01-23-2006 09:20 AM

Okay, I'm mad at myself for not getting #33.
