I HAVE to stay here now.
Blame Kevy !! He tried to warn me off it, and so naturally, I have to stay at The Madonna Inn. I LOVE it !!
My short-list is down to: Bridal Falls Daisy Mae Jungle Rock Old Mill Oriental Fantasy Rock Bottom Safari Traveler’s Suite You all might prefer others, but I like ones that have twin doubles (at least) and Rock Waterfalls for showers ! HEHEHEHEHEHE:cool: |
But have you seen the bathroom?
|
Definitely the Caveman Room. That's the best.
Ralphie and I stayed in the Pioneer America room, not as exciting as the Cave room, but the only room left at the time. Make sure you use the bathroom at the restaurant. Solid rock urinals. Just like Fred Flinstone uses. :D |

taking a pee is one of the things that sold me on it in the first place when Kecy mentioned it !
...I do hope no women with cameras come in for some "Action Shots" ...and I think either the Caveman Room or the Jungle Rock Room will win out in the end. It isn't easy being green. |

hehehe I've been in that bathroom, and yep, I took pictures!! I was preggers with Nickolas and we had friends living in a junkyard just down the road from there (yep, in a junkyard). We met there for breakfast before taking off to Morro Bay and Pismo for the day.

I went to school in SLO and for the last 1.5 years I was up there was a DJ at the Hungry Tiger/Reubens in Morro Bay (now long gone). I passed the Madonna almost every day as I lived about a mile from there. |
When we head for the coast, we always go to both. The Madonna sits right between the 2 towns. We used to go to Cambria too, but don't do that as much anymore.
For the best tidal pools we head to Cayucos (I just spelled that way wrong). I haven't been to Avila since they dredged the oil-covered sand out and redid it. I prefer that beach over Pismo if I want to play, but I hate that pier. The boards are way too far apart and make me dizzy. The last couple of years they have been having issues with sharks too. I love to window shop in Morro Bay and go to Carousel Taffy. It always cracks me up to find the Bakersfield newspaper at the 711 in Pismo. Even when we went to the Dunes, about 1/3 of the people out there were from Bakersfield. At one point the owner of the Madonna wanted to put in a tram/gondola thingy up to the top of the hill behind it, and then expand the hotel with a building up there, but the conservationists put a stop to it. Highway 1 takes yo to MB, Cayucos, Cambria and then San Simeon. You have to get off of 101 in SLO and then pick it up near the college. It takes you past Cuesta JC, a huge park across from Cuesta is where they have the big Ren Faire every year. |
