Stones Censored at Superbowl

From this story.

Quote:

In "Start Me Up," the show's editors silenced one word, a reference to a woman's sexual sway over a dead man. The lyrics for "Rough Justice" included a synonym for rooster that the network also deemed worth cutting out.
The last three liones of "Start Me Up":
You, you, you make a grown man cry
You, you make a dead man come
You, you make a dead man come

I think we can all figure out the word from "Rough Justice"

My favorite line from the article:
Quote:

The Stones probably didn't mind, either. It brought a little rock 'n' roll danger to the ultimate "safe" gig and - if they're lucky - it distracted attention from their mediocre show.

While Mick gets around pretty well for a 60+ year old, I think their time is up.

Although I thought the stage was pretty cool.

Ghoulish Delight 02-06-2006 12:21 PM

It seemed to me that, after the whole "no one over 45" controversy, that they made a point to have older people right up at the stage where they'd be on screen a lot.

As for their performance...yawn.

Cadaverous Pallor 02-06-2006 12:24 PM

Why does the most watched program on television have to have such a sucky half-time show? God, how I hate the lowest common denominator.

Not Afraid 02-06-2006 12:25 PM

Well, you just CANNOT use the "rooster" word when a bunch of men are sitting around together, drunk and limp. That would be blasphemy!

Kevy Baby 02-06-2006 12:35 PM

Yeah, they might start getting all cocky when they are all cocked up. Ain't that right Dick?

And we don't even get to add a new phrase to our vernacular! I feel robbed!
