The Big Stupid Arm by Spaceship Earth Comes Down

(I hope!)

The area to the left of Spaceship Earth has a construction wall around it, completely enclosing the area where the arm is anchored to the ground. There is a crane behind that wall.

Oh please oh please oh please oh please oh please take that stupid thing down. I doubt any imagineer's vision of the future includes dismembered arms reminding us of where we are.

I heard that this was the plan. As far as I know, it's one of the many things that the creative folk at EPCOT are planning for the 25th (which is next year, if anyone is counting).

innerSpaceman 02-06-2006 05:53 PM

oh please oh please oh please. I do I do I do believe in fairies. The arm must go! (But Epcot will still be a mere shell of its former greatness, alas.)

Drince88 02-06-2006 06:24 PM

please oh please oh please oh please!

I don't care if it's for the WDW 35th or the Epcot 25th (1.5 years away, by my calcs) -- just say it's true

please ho please oh please oh please!

Now, I've never seen it without the arm, but I like it. I'm an iconoclast.

The arm in Epcot and the Hat in MGM always struck me as something out of a Dick Sprang Batman comic. Breathtaking for about 15 minutes - then just silly. Time to go.

No. fvcking. way! GET OUT!

flippyshark 02-06-2006 09:39 PM

Alex - I'll forgive you for your iconoclastic arm-liking, but I think you may find that when you see it without (oh please oh please oh please) the geosphere will seem more impressive and magnificent. (My chief problem with the arm is that it dwarfs the once-massive structure, and ruins it's elegant simplicity.)

oh please oh please oh please oh please oh please ...

Without the arm, it kinda reminds me of Eurosat, at Europa Park (Rust, Germany)
